Dang Jared you are the man. I dont believe that you are afraid of hard projects. It will be interesting seeing the your progress as this one gets whupped into shape. Looks like you are doing well. Wish you the best. .
July '67 frame correct. That's a 1970 and up front fender. Rear fender looks bob'd, good for easy tire changes. Can you just bolt on the sprocket cover and run it kick only? You prolly already know it but the internal throttle is one of the sweetest features on the older Harleys. The pre-1970 Sportsters are the bomb! Great channel Frost.
Unfortunately the clutch is engaged through a rod and worm gear on the sprocket cover, no cover no clutch. I definitely like the early stuff, I'm tired of rebuild brake calipers and mastercylinders on the later ones. Thanks for watching!
You got it dude. Seat casting is G7 or July 1967. Cast in '67 but sold as a '68. "Harley switched production over to the new model year in late summer. So a frame manufactured in November of 1953 would have been used on a 1954 K Model. The 1954's were already showing up in dealerships by November of '53 and etc etc" (Sportsterpedia) Its hot as hell here too in PA. Just put 60wt in my bikes. Fucking awesome bike man
I hear you, I've got a few early bikes I wish still had the drum setup. They dont stop quit as good but I'm tired of rebuilding calipers/mastercylinders every few years.
Yeah I saw I could change that to my business name, figured that was alittle easier to say and for people to remember than jfrost77hd. Also weird when I see someone and they call me that lol
I'm gonna try to bring it back stock, could be an option though that's what the previous owner said too since he'd seen the last one I did. I need to dig that bike back out
I wish it was that easy but these early Sportsters clutch is engaged through a worm gear on the sprocket cover. No cover no clutch unfortunately so I'll have to weld an ear on there from another case.
