Here is Liberace performing Boogie Woogie on his 196 Television Series. The 3 DVD set will be released on September 18th. Titled Liberace Ultimate Entertainer.
The clean strike of the keys without hitting the others at 16th to the bar, is freaking outstanding. He was a great piano player. Give him his props...he deserves it.
@@jjjsmith2497 He is talking about how Liberace didn’t even miss a single note during the “16 beat to the bar” part of the piece. He is recognizing how good of pianist Liberace is.
I met Liberace back in 1967 at a reception. He was as friendly to me as he is to this audience. He truly was one of the great entertainers of the 20th century.
1schwererziehbar1 yeah your giving your opinion, you never answered me. Id say by now....your full of shit....but that statement just like yours is an opinion.
When something harmless is judged the same as ACTUAL harmful extremes, it frequently encourages what would be harmless behavior to become harmful out of cognitive dissonance. It was the negative attitude towards homosexuality that killed him. If he could have still value himself during his love life, he might of cared enough about himself to keep it safe.
Richard Smith...It wasn't a "negative attitude toward homosexuality" that killed LIberace, it was AIDS. This is just a fact, like it or not. I think it's a shame that this stellar entertainer has become defined by his sexuality, which really was his own business, and which he never openly flaunted to his adoring fans. Personally, I think the guy was a class act and don't really feel the fact that he was gay is relevant to his value as a beloved celebrity.
No he has his mum or sister there to get that "aw family " vibe and then people like you go aww int he sweet ... he manipulated people and isnt even that good a pianist....
I saw him once and what a show he put on. I was close to the stage when this lady showed him her ring a HUGE diamond Liberace turned to the lady and smiled and said "It's a start dear" he was class
The Princess Margaret, on seeing Liz Taylor's 69 carat Taylor-Burton diamond, remarked how it was 'vulgar'. Taylor offered for the Princess to try it on. When on her finger Taylor is reported to have said, 'Not so vulgar now, is it?'
Scott thorson was18 not16 when he met Liberace Scott says this in his book now Pretending he was 16 to put Lee in bad lightoday Nov 25th 1980 Lee lost his mom r.i.p lovely Liberace family

Liberace was definitely a showman--you can see he loved what he was doing, (smiling) and better yet including the audience! Fantastic artist. Thank you for posting.
This was great entertainment and showmanship. Yes, Liberace was lavish and colorful, but that was his unique style! Enjoy the Master's music and revel in his brilliant showmanship. Liberace was great because he loved his music and he loved entertaining. RIP Liberace.
One of the few mega-celebrities who realized that fame and fortune came not only from their talent but from the consent of the audience and the love of worldwide fans. Liberace never forgot that and was consistently and tirelessly gracious to his fan base, both en masse and individually. In another time and another age of show business that was called class.
I used to see Liberace on tv when I was a kid in the 60s and 70s but its only now i realize how spectacular he was. He always seemed like a genuinely kind person.
Its ridiculous that one of the only piano progidies of this generation is foreshadowed by him being gay and flamboyant. Who gives a shit? He was a freaking amazing piano player
He is not a piano genius like Sviatoslav Richter or Martha Argerich. He is a business genius, though. He understood his target audience really well and what they waited from him: a outrageous pile of kitsch and bad taste.
Michel Baes Although it is generally acknowledged that he had the talent to become a great concert pianist he chose a more prosperous, lucrative avenue to success that complimented his style and character
Not to take away from Liberace's unique gifts... but I can think of several piano players who, in my opinion, have surpassed him musically in every way. Check out a pianist named Hiromi, for just one example.
The only showman I can think of with this command of the audience was Freddie Mercury. Two of the best showmen who ever lived. Liberace was very warm hearted with his audience.
I had an opportunity to meet him one on one after one of his performances. He was exhausted and a total gentleman -" Did you like the show, how was the food, please come again" No push out the door I didn't stay as I thought I was imposing on his good nature. A true gent.
@@JustinBlazzzee I'm very glad that you like her piano skills as much as I do. I discovered her a few years ago and have also come to the conclusion that she is currently the best pianist on this planet. An exceptional talent. Moreover, not only attractive, but also a very friendly and modest person. Here are some words from Rick Beato about her: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Qri_DvU_9aM.html An interview with some private glimpses: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Rkr35lJNqNc.html And finally the "Flight of the Bumblebee": ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fdKEUmFUMFg.html
It doesn't happen very often but every now and then the world is graced with a wonderful talent. Liberace had the power to make us all smile and when he played the piano he made the world a better place. The world is sadder with his passing but I am sure he is rocking in heaven.
He had his beginnings in classical piano. His timing was steadier tha a metronome. Did you know his full name was Wladziu Valentino Liberace? He was a real showman, the best pianist I have ever seen and had a handsome and soothing singing voice. He thrilled me as a little girl and he still does today. He was also a very courteous and thoughtful person.
@@davidrobbio9816 His dad was from Formia, Lazio Italy, mum was Polish. Metronome? That pyramid shaped device with a clicking arm that musicians use to learn to keep an exact timing in rhytm (tempo).
He had such a genuinely kind and happy smile you rarely get from nowaday's performance artists. Will always appreciate this man for being a true entertainer, one of the musical legends ⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘⚘
Liberace was the happiest performer. His smile and laughter were so genuine and he truly seemed like he was the happiest person. How can anyone not smile if he was smiling? It was like he could never not smile. Liberace was truly one of those performers (whether Las Vegas, or anywhere) who really wanted his audiences to have a good time and put alot of his energy in making sure they did. Elvis was another one. Two of Las Vegas' best. Now, those days are gone. Have been for decades+
Liberace can really play a piano and he is such a GREAT showman........I love to listen to him. I went to Nursing School at St. Francis Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA where he was a patient at one time and he told the story of how nice the Nuns were to him that he gave money to the hospital and they built a big lobby that was beautiful and you had to go through his lobby to get to Nursing classes.................what an honor it was for me to know that I walked everyday through his lobby.
Master talent and a black belt in flamboyant showmanship, tickles the ivories like it's no big deal at all and engages the audience, brilliant. And if his tailor could provide our overalls for work it would be awesome.
I said it to another video of him and I'm gonna say it to this video. He is the absolute ultimate pianist!!! No one was ever or will ever be better than him. Wish he was still alive!!!
sonyahannah...Yes, Liberace happily made other people Happy. He used his God-given talent to do that, and he quite often publicly thanked God for everything he had. Liberace did more for other people than any religious blow-hard ever did. Was Liberace "queer?" Who gives a shit? I bet my virgin ass, Liberace is in Heaven, the blowhards in or on their way to Hell.
Saw him at the London Palladium many years ago. As well as being a talented musician he was really funny. He was on stage for over an hour and the entertainment didn't flag for a second! It was obvious he was having a whale of a time on stage, and so were we, being ebtertained by him. The greatest showman of our time.
He was a great pianist along with being a flamboyant entertainer. I used to find it amusing that his brother George was so reserved as he accompanied him on the violin. Opposite personalities but both outstanding musicians.
I have enjoyed reading the comments, so I too must comment. I have followed Liberace all my life from the fifties until his death. In all that time, besides being the ultimate performer, he has been a total gentleman and great human being at all times. And he took excellent care of his mother!
In 1956 Las Vegas he showed Elvis the ropes on how to dress when performing. In just a few months Elvis was wearing that gold suit and you know the rest Liberace knew showmanship
Growing up in the 60s, I had seen Liberace on many talk shows. It wasn’t until I saw him in a movie about 30 years ago called “Sincerely Yours” about a concert pianist, that I became aware of his talent. He was for sure a tortured soul that had more talent in his baby finger, than most people in their whole bodies. Thanks to youtube the performers of the past are memorialized in our hearts and minds. RIP Mr. Liberace.
Oh liberace what talent you have.. you're a genius in that piano and that wonderful personality to go along with it... what a wonderful entertainer you were..you are the best piano player I've ever seen wow!!! I will say it again genius!! May you rip🥰
You never saw Liberace without that amazing dimpled smile and loving what he did best! I saw him on, “What’s my line” a looooong time ago and the panel figure out who he was very quickly. Not too many back then could play like he did and receive wild receptions wherever he appeared.
I think he was the happiest when performing. I saw him in person and really enjoyed his show. I used to run home from school to watch his show and Bandstand. I took piano lessons back then. Miss him.
Liberace isn’t a brilliant pianist. people like oscar peterson and oliver jones. jelly roll morton and cyrus chestnut are great pianists. he’s just a showman.
@@ethankamphof3014 Agree re those you mention. I don't know if Liberace qualifies. Probably not as an artist. Undeniably he had a great and flashy technique though.
Rest in peace Liberace you always be remembered as the greatest piano player in the world and you always be remembered as the piano Elvis to me you are but you always be remembered as the best piano player in the 50 60 70s and 80syou'll never be forgotten as your name is Liberace and is God's hope will hold y your kind soul and say you are not just a good piano player you are never forgotten as the as Liberace and there's only one perfect Liberace in this world that will live forever and his soul will live at his music balloon that is the Liberace that was buried in Hollywood forever
Today, 2019, Liberace is long dead, but finding this video reminded me of what a really great entertainer he was, supposedly the greatest piano player whoever lived, definitely a very handsome man with a likeable personality. and Liberace was the most flamboyant entertainer whoever took stage...anywhere. Today, I enjoy watching Liberace perform, the same way I did back in the day, but even more so now...thanks to RU-vid, I get to replay this video until my hand cramps and I'm totally exhausted.
He was a super, if not the best pianist and entertainer, but his best ability was like most of old Hollywood, he worshipped his audience. His talent and memory will last for many years
Debbie Reynolds use to speak of her friend Liberace with such great affection. I hope their souls are singing, playing, and dancing throughout our Universe right now! God bless them special - always 💜💜🎆
...and the only reasons he didn't take it 32 to the bar was because... well... 1. No composers could write the music FAST enough. 2. The friction in the mechanics of the piano would have been a FIRE HAZARD. 3. He was only HUMAN.
