In 1967 my Dad and I went to Oulton Park circuit, and whilst walking around the old grass paddock, a Lola T70 fired up, just as we passed behind it. Talk about a bloody heart attack, the noise was ear splitting but gorgeous !!! No pussy mufflers in them days !!
Guys, get rid of that damn muffler. Run your collector pipes inside the upright brake tubes and into an oval shaped pipe that's 30" long without the baffle. The oval pipe should be 8" across by 6" high. All 1/8th in. stainless.
Maybe these are monster v-8s where you live but here, the monster v-8s are the 572cu.in. Chevys or the 600cu.in. Gorilla Fords for truck pulling. The Lola could use a big block. Set up properly could make a modest 750H.P. and 565Lb. torque@6000r.p.m. I do love the Lola though-all the rest pretty much junk.
The videos don’t even do these cars justice, when hearing them in person they’re soooo loud, by far one of the loudest race cars in the planet, when going down straights with big walls and grandstands the reverberations of the engine are unbelievable and the rumble of the v8 has so much presence over nearly every other exhaust note on the track Edit: the only other crossplane V8s that are louder than this are most definitely the 1968 corvette L88 race car and (maybe) the new C7R but even that doesn’t sound as loud in real life as the lola, and finally the old can-am cars with the V8s those things were crazy loud
Bien sûr qu'ils étaient plus bruyant, ils étaient en échappements libres, à la fin avec des tubulures en titane, plus fines encore... c'étaient de très belles voitures....et il n'y a pas de Lola avec le bloc Aston.....
I like the fact you refer to them as a ‘person’, they do indeed seem so alive; I feel so sorry for the fans of EV racing, I’d rathe4 poke sticks in my eyes!
I love that Lola so much, I went and bought a C6 Corvette, yellow with the LS2 engine 400 HP 6 liter. When I drive my corvette it's like looking out over the hood of a yellow Lola T70. I tried to buy a die cast model of the Lola coupe but they are hard to find and very expensive. I have the open cockpit T70 Sunoco Penske racing model in deep blue. Chevy V8 engines are the best. I also have die cast models of the Porsche 917K and the Ferrari 512S .
