Last year (2016) myself and my father built up my 1969 MGB ready to compete.
In the last 6 months it has had a full strip down to the bare body, bare metal respray in MG tartan red. All new left sills, blended rear 'sebring' bumper, full interior spray and protection (running gutted interior).
This thing screams along back roads and A roads. It feels super light and takes and corner you throw at it. Running 3 degree front camber with race springs.
SPECS:
Engine has been bored to 1840cc with a weber 45 DCOE, performance cam, gas flowed & ported head, running very high compression, oil catch system, 3-1 manifold, custom 2.5 inch side exit exhaust single box (out passenger side) . Full F.I.A cage, seats and harnesses.
Spare engine to build a forged block and pistons to 2,000cc when this/ if it blows!

This sounds great. Planning my engine build for mine. What exactly did you do? Is it standard internals? I'm thinking boring out to 2000cc high compression, webbers, crossflow cylinder head.

Incredible car... Would you mind telling me what type of muffler/exhaust you put on it? sounds great, I'd like to get the same one for my '71!

Ross K big bore manifold into a custom side exit. Nothing much to it to be honest! Fits straight up to the centre exhaust bracket

How much does a build like this roughly cost? Watching this is really tempting

Sam hard to say really as been building it for over 8 years. From memory, engine incl clutch, Weber etc all balanced £3k. Bare metal paint job and new sills £2.5k. Cage, seats harnesses £1k. Suspension work, exhaust, wheels incl tyres £2k. If you do most yourself then it’s obviously not bad, only bits we didn’t do is engine rebore/ balance & paint with new sills.

I have a 74 crome bumper that im restoring, wondering if you made any upgrades to the brakes. If so what were they?

JR Hernandez brake upgrades are only braided lines & ebc yellowstuff pads. Been meaning to change them for a long time now. I totally cooked them trying to stay with a friends Caterham
