Terrific restoration, really. Panel gaps on these are almost impossible to get right, especially the gap at the rear of the doors. Even expert restorers of other classics get this wrong but this may be the best I've seen....and on a race car too! Beautifull, really well done 👍

What a terrific car, and great video. From 1975 to 1982 I lived next door to Bob Tullius in Herndon, VA. I had a stock 69 GT6 + at the time, and Bob would always honk his horn and wave when we passed each other driving in the area. He was a very nice man, and he really loved winning races in all of his different British Leyland cars. Bob was the person from whom I first heard the quotes: "Lucas, the Prince of darkness", and "Why do Brits drink warm beer? Because Lucas makes refrigerators".

I raced a 1970 GT6+ in the 1970's. First time out finished second in the pouring rain on slicks another lap and it could have been a win. Best sounding car on the track according to the spectators and made their heads turn every lap as she screamed by like a banshee. Just found another 1969 GT6+ street car in 2016 as I never got her out of my system. Lovely on the road and track.... Matt, your Group 44 car was my inspiration during my early teens and I converted my street car into a dedicated racer... Thanks Lou!

I was surprised to see what looked like stock zenith carbs mounted. Maybe they're the bigger ones from the TR6. Noticed it had a dual brake master setup along with the overflow tank. I've got a 68 i've been restoring for awhile, nice to see that they're finally getting some love from the car community.

All the Bob Tullius British cars (Triumphs and Jags only as I remember from R&T magazines...) had those green stripes on the front! Apparently the guy won several races in very odd cars! This beautiful little racer is neat, the side pipe looks masculine but "Radical Cam" sound is Macho!!!

Race cars, such as the 300 SLR and the DBR1, were among the first older cars that I really fell in love with. You should try to get Bruce Meyer on My Car Story. He’s got some real gems like the first production Cobra, a 300SL Gullwing, an Iso Bizzarrini A3/C, a Ferrari 250 GT SWB Berlinetta, a C1 Corvette that raced at Le Mans, a Porsche 910, and more. Jay Leno isn’t too far from his location either ;)

I have a friend that has a beautiful GT6 . I recently rebuilt his engine while he was doing a frame off restoration . It is awesome . When I tore the engine down the front timing cover had a glob of what looked like bondo on it . We thought is was covering a hole or some kind of damage . Didn't find anything . Later we were looking at a repair manual and it had a picture of a front cove with the bondo on it . Since the rebuild you can hear the timing components whirring . Undoubtedly is was a sound deadener . That is a beautiful GT6 , THANK YOU for sharing it with us !

The engine looks pretty standard, probably had a racing camshaft fitted and bigger jets in the Solex carbs. They were available in the UK in the seventies for the 2ltr 6 cylinder engine. The under bonnet layout is the same as the Mk1 GT6 I owned in the seventies. In my experience the standard gearbox is the weak link in these cars.I changed mine four times in five years and that was for normal road use rather than racing.Triumph were building a special GT6 for Le Mans '66 prototype class that had a 2ltr engine with triple twin choke webbers.I believe the engine had an alloy cylinder head so it would be none standard. They estimated its top speed would be over 160mph.

Please stop calling it a "Mini" race car you Wingnut! That car deserves respect. I had a 70' Spitfire back in the 80s. Hand built engine, roll bar, rebuilt suspension, fuel cell, and a host of other goodies.... Every thing I thought to build in to it. And mine was "street legal" as far as it's first inspection was conserned. (that didn't stay that way) So don't talk about what you DONT KNOW ABOUT. I won quite a few races against big V8 cars and have the trophies to prove it. You really ticked me off. Beware the Spitfire!
