I miss Bruce so damn much! He died on MY 10th bday (07201973)! Even as a child, I didn't know of his passing at that age until I reached the age of understanding! On the 20th of this month, Bruce would have been DECEASED now for 47 years!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏⚰️😞😭😭😭😭😡😢😥😭

It's refreshing to see a video that actually delivers. So many times you see other videos purporting to show 'previously unseen', 'rare footage' of Bruce Lee and if you're lucky they just contain a photograph. This one is the real deal for once.

Looks like Leo Fong in a suit ... 3 down from Bruce at :14 but its so grainy that I can't tell. I see a lot of the old guys whom I recognize and some who trained under including Leo Fong and Ron Marchini. Jhoon Rhee and his associates were HUGE in the 70's. I never met Bruce personally but saw him at a competition in Oakland when I was young.

My Grandmaster was Duk Sung Don who was allegedly Rhees teacher also. Son told me that Rhee branched off from WTA to make WTF and created the point system for the Olympics. Son didn’t agree with going Olympic because of politics. Cool to see that I have some lineage seen here.
@zzdoc2
@zzdoc2 4 года назад
It is my understanding that both men were in Lee Won Kuk's first black belt class at the ChungDoKwan. Rhee went to DC., Son came to NYC along with Hyun Ok Shin, of the second black belt class who established dojang in Eastern Queens and is still based there. In late '60's I trained at a dojang in Riverdale, Bronx, NY established by Lee Kyu Soek, also of the second black belt class of the ChungDoKwan. Lee is President of the Asian Taekwon-Do Union. The politics of the ChungDoKwan and Hoi Chong Chi is legend and much about what brought Son to the USA. It was Son who gave Choi rank. Choi established the OhDoKwan and 'ran with the baton' where pre-Kikkuwon TKD was concerned. However, IMHO, Son, Rhee, Shin, and Lee were the real deal in TKD ChungDoKwan in those years. You might be interested in these links :www.kidokwan.org/about/ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chung_Do_Kwan

Jhoon Rhee in Black Belt Magazine ( decades ago) stated that when he taught Bruce Lee his plethora of super kicks , Bruce would come only after all the evening sessions in the Dojo is finished thus they would end up till midnight. Jhoon Rhee is one truly humble and polite who wowed the USA.
@mandalorianmoggie7108
@mandalorianmoggie7108 3 года назад
Jhoon Rhee had periods of doubt and depression. His 'brother', Bruce, would write letters of encouragement to him to help him up. You can read about it in the book "Letters of the Dragon". Friendship and loyalty were important to Bruce.

At that time Kung Fu was not permitted at the tournaments. It wasn't until some years after those point fighting tournaments that Kung Fu was allowed and even then it was limited in what the practitioner was allowed to do. At that time only demonstrations of Kung Fu were permitted. All that Bruce Lee did was demonstrations. I have a cousin who fought in those tournaments so I'm rather familiar with what went on.
