This was the last time Malaysia had stepped in into the semifinals in Miss Universe.. I hope they could finally break their drought of unplacements in MU2022 ❤️ Love and good luck from Philippines 🇵🇭
@@jeffersonk.8110Nope, it was the Philippines who had a placement in 1973 (who eventually won the title with Margarita "Margie" Moran). MU 1970 was the last time Malaysia placed in the semifinals. So it's been 51 years since they haven't made the cut. ;)
Bob Barker, bless him! He had to work harder and extra during those days when there were delegates who didn't speak speak English and interpreters were not a part of the semifinals interview. However, if you look at it, it shows more of Bob's amazing natural hosting and interviewing abilities and character, and also his ability to speak Spanish for his level. It also really shows the true ability of the delegate under pressure and candid circumstances. This would help the judging panel!
Miss 🇲🇾 is being called first..wowww. that's the only time we placed as Semifinalists. Hope some years we will place again. Anyway, this host is bad always make fun when representative cannot speak English. Nowadays always same country make it to the semis, how bored.
Bob knew what he was doing. It's not an unusual thing people do because Spanish and Portuguese are related languages. They are iberian languages. Bob used his Spanish because it's a good chance the Brazilian delegates understand, and they always do. Even Spanish speaking visitors to Brazil or Portugal do this, vice versa.
Miss Puerto Rico and Miss Australia had the most beautiful gowns. It puzzle’s me how Miss Japan made it to the final five. She seemed to have trouble with the final questions evenwth an interpreter.
Rude of MC Bob Barker to push Gloria aside without any regard for her well being right after she crowned Marisol. He also poke fun of girls during interviews, esp non English speaking contestants.
Where did they get the Japanese interpreter for the final question? A street corner?? Miss Japan spoke his language, and she seemed like she couldn't even understand him
There's a problem with the reception I'm getting (6:47). The picture started getting really bad, so I tried to do the old remedy, but, hitting an iPad's not like hitting an old CRT TV with rabbit ears. Hey; how'd someone's mother slip into a pageant open to young women (8:29)? I got a question; this pageant was broadcast from Miami, Fl, and IS the Miss UNIVERSE Pageant - women from'all over the world'. Then, why are they playing, Do You Know The Way to San Jose (10:27)?!🙄 (I'm JUST goofing). On a serious note, I wish the relatives of Ms Marisol Malaret (13:45) my sincerest sympathy. She had a life where she touched many, both in Puerto Rico, and in the States, as well, and used winning here as a springboard to helping her into a life in which she was an entrepreneur, TV host, and editor/creator of a couple of lifestyle and fashion magazines 💐
@@paolosantiago3163 I don’t think I am the only person on earth that can’t move on. Ask the other fans on the Miss Universe 1970 videos. USA deserved it more than Puerto Rico.
