Aaaah...1971 was a good year for TV. Henry Fonda starring in The Smith Family, that was an excellent show. Marcus Welby MD, great show, they don't make doctors like him anymore. The FBI always a good dramatic story. The Odd Couple, always one of my favorites. I remember all of these shows and I am glad I grew up in that era. I love the ABC This Is The Place To Be promo song, very soft, sophisticated unlike all the loud nonsense thrown at us on TV these days.
+68lincoln I remember seeing an interview with Robert Young where he said he hated meeting doctors because they always complained to him that their patients complained to THEM they weren't like Marcus Welby.
You know what's crazy? I started watching Marcus Welby, M.D. reruns several years ago when they were made available and not only did I fall in love with the series, I developed a crush on Marcus Welby himself! I'm only in my thirties, and my mom's crush on James Brolin began when she watched the show when it first aired on TV! I guess it's all down to his kindly nature and friendly disposition.
I'm only in my thirties, but I am a HUGE "Marcus Welby, M.D." fan, and it always cracks me up to see the young Danny Bonaduce knowing how he turned out and seeing him on "World's Dumbest". Some of those movies look like great fun to watch, esp the one with Bill Bixby in it, and how much times have changed from how a 35-year-old was viewed in 1971 vs. when I was 35 not long ago.
"The Odd Couple" may have been a very popular show, along with "The Brady Bunch", but we never watched either one. I do not remember what was on opposite them, it may have been the farm report, but whatever it was, it beat them by a mile.
Look at all the space on the freeway! This was a time of stress-free, outrage-free TV - what a glorious time to be young. Now it’s all eye rolling, confrontational crap.
Wow! How can you possibly imagine or remember that the late 1960s-1970s were "stress-free?" You need to refresh your memory or get a few history lessons.
@@GoGreen1977 it literally was stress-free. We played ball, rode bikes to school (without helmets!), weren't confused about our gender, and never heard of any kid in elementary school suffering from "anxiety". It was awesome - sorry to burst your bubble.
Not if the woman exercised her freedom of choice. Maybe you're bitter because you're not sure if your mom would've kept you had she had that freedom, but my mom did and I'm happy to know I'm here because I was wanted, having been born after Roe vs. Wade.
"Greatest Generation" in charge, "Boomers" in their early 20s. We "GenXers" just starting school. No PC, no woke, no 15 genders... I was 5 in 1971. I remember kindergarten, monkey bars, banana bike seats, bench seats in cars, Brady Bunch, Room 222, Mary Tyler Moore, MASH(in 1972) I was never a fan of the movie. To all that I have met so far in life, thank you. I have learned more from relatives, friends and customers(I delivered/maintained Durable Medical Equipment for over two decades) than I did in all of my formal education. Today, my personal opinion is that a group is using "climate change" to railroad us into Socialism. Our beloved "Greatest Generation" would have never tolerated this type of nonsense. Be well.
