The ABC Evening News segment is one of my absolute favorite things in the world. It makes the news seem super action-packed and heart-stopping, which of course it usually is but none more so in this era of the Vietnam War and protests of all kinds. Oh, and how I miss Peter Jennings! Just one of many reporters at this time, he was the main man behind the desk when I was growing up with the ABC World News Tonight program and his patrician voice gave off an air of authority that made me feel like he could help me make sense of the world's goings on when I was a kid. Anyway, this was an amazing fall preview package and whomever put it together should feel super proud of the job they did here. Thank you for uploading it!
Probably the most memorable and successful television promotion campaigns ever! The tune and harmonies of 'This Is the Place To Be' has been stuck in my head for over 40 years and it's nice to dust it off and hear it again. ABC had such a fantastic run with this promo and many others over the years back then. Of course, the TV shows that they had then were the best too. Wish that more of these classics would appear on today's 'retro' TV networks. There were SO many great ones. Loved 'Room 222', 'The Smith Family' and others. Thanks for the post!
ABC's "Movie of the Weekend" was its only attempt for a TV movie and it was similar to the "Movie of the Week". There was also a rare intro to the "Movie of the Weekend" including a preview of the action thriller "Duel" with Dennis Weaver and it was Steven Spielberg's first film ever produced for a TV movie. Noticed the rotating Cameraman, they used the same thing for WABC-TV (Channel 7) in New York City where they did the openings to both "The 4:30 Movie" and the "Saturday and Sunday Night Movie" with the catchy theme song done by "Sesame Street's" Joe Raposo.
13:40 Ah, Dennis Lambert and Brian Potter... The same duo behind many hits from acts such as the Grass Roots, the Four Tops, Glen Campbell, the Righteous Brothers, Commodores, and Starship to name a few.
