1971 Chevelle by Chevrolet in Depth Look at The Gleaming Details 

My first car was a '71 Malibu 350 Chevelle convertible sunflower yellow w/black int. 350 V8 245hp 2bbl carb w/Turbo 350 auto trans & 10 bolt rear. Bought it in '85 and spent less than a year fixing it up til I got my license in '86. Paid $3400 for her. I built a 350 4-bolt main block, Crane Fireball II cam, forged-steel crank, Weiand intake & Holley 750 4bbl. Drove her every day for 10 yrs b4 getting a S-10 pickup to drive daily. Still have the sunflower yellow beauty in my garage. Has 213k miles and runs/drives great. Will never let her go. Best car I ever had, part of the family. Yesterday's Chevrolet.

My favorite car was 71 chevelle. It was green with a dark green vinyl top. I miss that car

While I liked the '70's four headlights, and some of the colors that weren't available in '71 (like light turquoise and black cherry metallics), I liked the '71's as soon as I saw one hiding out back at our dealer's in Sept. '70. The round taillights are an improvement; the full wheelcover design was an improvement, and what's not to like about chrome around the wheel openings and over the rockers?

Having owned a sweet Placer Gold hardtop, the '72 Malibu was "cheaped-out" by using the '71 "Heavy Chevy" upholstery fabric!

I have my late father's 72 Musanne blue Malibu. I looks just like the 71 except a little difference on the grill.

Ok, I'll have a Sunflower Yellow SS with a black bucket seat interior, 360 hp 454 with the TH400 auto trans, the air induction hood, 3.31 gears with posi so it's fun to drive but not too thirsty, I'll have the Firestone Wide Ovals, power steering and front disc brakes are standard aren't they? I'll have those, air conditioning and an AM-FM radio, sport side mirrors and wheel opening and drip molding chrome trim. Oh yes, the SS stripes are to be black! How much is that going to set me back? Nice to dream, isn't it?

I had a beautiful same color as this one but with black bucket vinyl and the 350 cu in 2bbl 245HP turbomatic 3spd 355:1 factory posi traction rear, power steering and front disc brakes am-8track radio, factory air conditioning, gauge cluster package with working clock, I paid $900 dollars for the car in 1978' with the original 59,840 one owner miles. I only added dual exhaust with old school oval hush thrush mufflers and chromed turned down exhaust tips., 14"by 6" shallow S/S cragars on RWL Laramie F-70's I loved my car but had to sell it in 1983' for family needs...
