You are definitely not short on persistence .A lesser man would have given up. Thanks for sharing your adventure . I really enjoy watching you figure thinks out . Dont beat yourself up , you figured it out.
I 100% respect the fact that you took that one, as a chevy guy working on a ford and not blaming it on the old excuse (well its a ford after all) i love those old Fords hopefully I'll find one for my collection one day lol
best thing about chevy,,i dont own one,,i see them,, ..62 f100 352 FE,9''. 75 highboy 5sp 351c.. 82 bronco sas d60 rear all 8 stud.. 02 s/duty 4.2tdi brazilian. 12.5 lt 100.. 73 r/t 340 clone sublime. ausie..just in the god dang wrong country..
The fact that you admitted to your mistake speaks a lot about your character. You are absolutely right that most channels would not have even mentioned that! We all appreciate your honesty and it totally made for a good laugh!
Usually the ranger and the highest ranger XLT are the top two trim levels for the 69-71 anyway and usually the ranger trim and occasionally the sport custom is equipped with the camper special options and badging and usually the 390 upgrade.
Man, I enjoy your channel so much. It’s easily one of the most honest automotive channels on RU-vid. Just don’t change when you get to a million subscribers.
Truly, truly inspiring!! I am so inspired by you that i am going to find an old truck in the woods and bring my son with me for a great memory of hard work, and accomplishment with dad.
This guy is the my most fun to watch. I binge watch his videos every few months. I have even got a few of my family members watching him and they even text me as soon as a new video is up! Love it!
hello beautiful f100 my first f 100 was model 71 (here in argentia the engines were 188,221. v8 and diesel perquins) mine had a 221 after that truck i had 4 more and now i have a falcon ranchero
Thank you for sharing. You certainly didn't have to show the mistake but mad respect for showing it! I was cringing when you put water on a gasoline fire. Glad you got it out! Well done Sir! Mad respect!
The Ranger in the 70s F 100 trucks were pretty much the top of the line truck for the time. Dad bought a 1976 F100 Ranger New with the 302 BOSS engine. He later bought a 1978 Ford and i wound up with it. I put Thrush Super Sidekick sidepipes on it and literally drove the wheels off of it. Drove it for 21 years
Good job and great video! But I think I would have taken my chances with the old Chevrolet. They don't seem to be as hard to get along with. And after watching you go to town on lockjaw. I don't think that one would have been any trouble.
That fire had me stressing for a minute. I respect your acknowledgment of the mistake, we’ve all been there and it made the channel even more relatable :)
What a great video & channel! Most people wouldn’t admit their mistakes. The fact that you did is what makes us realize that you are just like us…human! We all make mistakes, and this just shows how we can all learn from them. Thank you! Also, like you, I had no idea that Ford offered a cable-operated overdrive on the 3 speed transmission. Could it be an aftermarket item or do you think it’s OEM?
Great video. I usually put Seafoam in the oil , it works wonders on the lifters and rings. You might want to give it try . I usually give it 2 or 3 heat cycles.
Everybody makes mistakes but not everybody is willing to admit their mistake. I applaud you for admitting yours, I had a pretty high opinion of you to begin with because of your down to earth manner but this bumped your approval score up at least 50 points. Not only was it a courageous thing to do, it makes me feel a little better about all the dumb mistakes I make. Thank you , Chad!!
Literally my new favorite automotive channel. There is a lot to be said about revivals but my dude, you just take the cake. I can't tell you enough how much I enjoy these. Thanks for that. I also love seeing that subscription base grow and grow.
I really appreciate and enjoy your channel. May God Bless You and Your Family Abundantly Sir. You're doing a great! Job. My funniest saying is "I don't know" ( in the Ohio accent ). I'm from TX. Btw, I have an all original 76 GMC Sierra pickup, 65218 miles, great patina, green, 250 6, 3 speed. I absolutely love it.
Awsome chad.only gear heads who get out and work on all sorts of stuff make mistakes, its part of being human.wear it with pride, coz I still learn from you every week .you're the real deal.cheers.
We from the Volunteer State know all to well about that baking in the sun until the middle of October. Then you get 4 or 5 night where it will drops down below freezing. And yep! You can bake in the day and freeze at night.🤣😉💯
Nothing wrong with revealing and learning from mistakes man! Stubborn and persistent is a good thing too. Can't wait to see that old girl drive out of the grave. Thanks for another fun video.
You are not gonna believe this. But in 19.83 I bought that same identical truck in Fayetteville Arkansas. It was a great truck. I drove it all over Arkansas. And then I drove it 16 hundred and 50 miles back to Westfield Massachusetts. I fixed it up nice inside and out. I drove it for 6 years in Massachusetts. Gave it to my little brother. He drove it for a long time to. Gas was cheap back then. I loved that truck. God bless. Thanks for sharing.
Cool revival! Some of them vehicles are marginally worth fixing ….but I’ve revived a bunch myself that were destined for the bone yard! I do have a really nice 1970 low mileage 360 engine and trans from a F150….hated to see it scrapped so I snagged it up….I don’t run across many truck where I live that will take an FE motor……most of those truck where I live are rusted bad …..and I mean bad! Will be fun to see that truck drive out of the woods!
All of the American auto companies used the Borg Warner overdrive . Ford was the last company to use them. They stopped in the early to mid 70’s. I have one in my ‘58 Chevy, and it’s a joy to drive. I recently found your channel, and I enjoy it. Thanks.
About 27 years ago I completely rebuilt a 360 for a old truck, and I mean a complete rebuild.. I got it all put in and spent 2 weeks trying to get it started. I bet I restabed the distributor 30 times. Always had fire on #1 cylinder perfect compression all the way around.. after 2 weeks of work And it never starting , I was pulling dizzy for the 31st time and looked inside of the dizzy cap. And it only had 1 terminal inside on the #1 wire...I put old cap back on and had it running in 2 minutes .. now this was when tou could buy tuneup parts at Wal-Mart.... so don't feel bad .. we have all had bad days... love the videos keep it up
👍👍 Cool old truck. Be a fun ride to go hunting groceries or lumber with. Anything parked under a tree... gets somwthing like that Bed ended up. Cool stuff :-) Thanks for posting 🙂
Man I was super excited when i checked my notification icon and saw you posted a video!!! I sure enjoy wrenching with you in the yard!! I'm only 12 minutes in right now, I'm sure I'll add this commZnt, but I'll tell you this to start.. Any time I get my hands on an old sitting motor like that FE you're messing with here, I always pull the valve covers, no matter what the hassle, because I would rather make sure I lubricate and add a nice amount of oil to all the springs and rocker arms and all that, just to do it. I know it'll oil itself but I feel SO much better, no matter how long it's been sitting, it NEEDS fresh oil up on top. Plus I tap all the valve springs anyway just be sure I don't bend a valve. A stitch in time saves nine, and oiling and checking my valves is way WAY less of a pain in the behind than to have to pull a head for a bent valve. Love your videos so much!! I can't wait to see 36.8k subscribers become 386.8k subs!!! GET TRENDING!!! Edit: Around 54:00, when you explain. I am going to tell you right now, I swear to the Lord in Heaven, as you were fiddlin' with that thing and I KNEW you were getting frustrated.. I was telling myself and yelling at you, I know you do Chevys, I KNOW you don't mess with a lot of Fords.. man, OH man, I'm not going to give anything up, but you know EXACTLY what I was screaming at the screen for 15 minutes!!!!! Glad you figured it out, I haven't gotten past your little talk with us yet, but I'm sure of the outcome! Thank you for telling us the way it actually is (in RU-vid land everyone likes to be the star ALL the time, and I'm human just like the rest of us) : )
Well I thought that ole Fix-Or-Repair-Daily had you beat for a minute but you got it running in the end and I have no doubt you’ll drive it home! God bless 🙏🏼🇺🇸
Hey persistence and determination pays off.You had me laughing when you when you had that epiphany and earned my respect for you that much more.If you can’t laugh you’re not having fun.Well done. Thanks again!!
We all make mistakes, i once went through 3 batteries in one day as they kept sliding and melting on the header...bungi cords have a place under the hood, but to share errors is human and it says a lot about your character sir. Love your whimsical way and the fact that you can laugh with and at yourself, keep the fun content coming!
Great video! And what patience this little engine has had, despite the abuse it had to endure. In my experience it's like one is getting into a relationship with such a motor, and can't let go of it. It's great that you also told us what was going on, because I'm sure 1 or 2 viewers immediately rushed to their cars and they are now running too 🙂Please keep entertaining us in no other way than you do now.
I'm sure this will generate comments lol but I have definitely timed a sbc as the Oldsmobile 307 V8 and the same thing with the Oldsmobile 307 V8 timed it as a sbc problem with owning both vehicles at the same time both have the same firing order but the sbc is clockwise and the Oldsmobile is counterclockwise
I watch multiple save it videos with the hope one day I get a chance to do this with a step side chevy and I’ve never once heard anyone admit they messed up or have the courage to say it to the people watching (it seems it’s far to east to edit the mistake out) and I can’t wait for part two sir thank you !!
Wow! You put a lot of time and work into getting that thing started! Good to know you can get the compression to come back around. I'll have to try that vinegar trick. Thanks for all the work you do on these videos. They are so fun to watch!
I'm glad you looked at what you did wrong because when they are running they run good . I have been looking for a Ford 100 just like that but I live in Indiana where they are hard to find thank you for what you are doing.
