Everyone is well aware of the classic Volkswagen Transporter models! But what some haven't realised is that the Volkswagen Transporter did have a competitor to face in the EU market: The Hanomag Henschel F-series van, later known as the Mercedes 206D!
The model name varied depending on engine sizes.
Mercedes had unquestionable success in the utility segment, when it came to large vehicles. Heavy duty trucks, large vans, etc..
But Mercedes had a problem, they didn't have anything to compete in the mid-sized van segment, rivalling against the Volkswagen Transporter. This was where Hanomag enters the picture.
