1971 Plymouth Road Runner Rapid Transit System & 383 Engine Sound on My Car Story with Lou Costabile 

That Orange Road Runner's front is like it's been magically fetched from Speed racer cartoon! I used to drool watching very 70s looking cars in Speed racer cartoon ! Man, i am so much in love with the front.. Thank you very much Lou, i think this Road Runner front is the most beautiful in American Muscle car history! Also not to forget those wheels!!🤤🤤🤤

My favorite show car from the RTS caravan was this 71 Roadrunner. It was awesome to see this car up close at MCACN. Such a cool piece of history as I love the 71-72 Roadrunners. Thanks Lou for covering this car on My Car Story. Rest in peace Steven.

Happy Breast Cancer Awareness Month Lou! I have a story that I know you’ll like! It’s a pretty long story so this will be fun yet lengthy. It was a beautiful October afternoon. I finished setting up everything for my Pink Ribbon party. My Plymouth Roadrunner Roadie was at the body shop having his exterior painted pink and decorated for the party. I eagerly waited to see my beloved bird show up. My dog Baby was playing with Cowboy while Mom got the food and drinks ready. Boo was riding his bike around the yard. My kitten Callie was dressed up in a nice pink outfit. Roadie pulled up to the yard. “Beep beep!” he called out. I ran up to Roadie and greeted him. “Hi Roadie!” I said. I checked out his freshly painted exterior. I whistled at how CLEAN the paint was laid out. “Roadie, your paint is as smooth as freshly cut ice!” I commented. His doors had a pink ribbon symbol on it. Baby dashed to Roadie and jumped at him. Cowboy snapped his fingers. “No jumping, Baby! Roadie just had a new paint job! We don’t want any scratches on him!” Cowboy scolded her. Baby continued to jump despite Cowboy scolding the Border Collie. “HEY! No jumping!” Cowboy shouted. Roadie then beeped his horn loudly to stop Baby from scratching his new paint. Baby was startled. “Thanks, Roadie. I didn’t want to have your paint scratched.” I said to the Roadrunner. Cowboy then told Baby, “If you ever jump on Phoebe’s car ONE MORE TIME, you’ll not be getting any treats!” Cowboy scolded her. Baby whines sadly. A few minutes later, my friends Esme, Justin and Jeremy arrived. “Hey Phoebe!” Jeremy said. Esme greeted Roadie in Spanish. “Hola, Roadie!” she greeted. The Roadrunner beeped his horn in response. “Yo, Boo! How’s it hanging, hothead!” Justin said to my brother. “Nothing much. Riding my bike all over the yard.” Boo replied. Mom called Roadie over to his special spot. “Come on, Roadie! I have a special spot for you to sit at!” She said. Roadie replies with a happy “meep meep” and drove ON HIS OWN to his special spot: right next to me! My friends were shocked! “How did he drive by himself?! I thought KITT from Knight Rider could only drive on its own!” exclaimed Jeremy. “Roadie is programmed to self-drive so it feels like he’s really living.” I replied. I grabbed a Pepsi out of the cooler, cracked it open, and soda SHOT right at Roadie’s fresh paint! “OH NO!” I gasped. Roadie was shocked that his paint had soda on it! “BEEP BEEP! Meep meep!” beeped the Roadrunner. His beeps started to turn sad. “Don’t worry, I’ll clean it up.” I reassured him. I grabbed a washcloth and wiped the soda stain out of Roadie’s door! Roadie thanked me for wiping the stain off of him. “Meep meep!” the Roadrunner beeped. “Awww! You’re welcome, Roadie.” I said, hugging his door. The Pink Ribbon Party was under way! Roadie sang songs while I poured drinks and served food to everyone. Roadie’s special drink was this Beep Beep Very Strawberry Smoothie. He also shared a cheeseburger with me. I sipped on some Pepsi while Roadie “drank” his smoothie. I really placed the smoothie on his grille to make it look like he was drinking it. Callie meowed happily. “Mew!” she said sweetly. “BARK BARK!” Baby barked. Our party was awesome! The end!!!

Awesome time capsule Lou! I think I had read about this historic Mopar and seen photos over the years. Really attractive color too. I still hope that you'll be posting the blue AMX that made a "cameo" in your recent Challenger R/T video, as well as the white Gremlin that appeared to be a Randall Rambler modified Gremlin X. That car was never made to be registered and driven on the road I guess. The headlights, marker and taillights are not DOT spec, which would have flunked all state inspections.

Maybe i missed it. But i looked back on previous video's and don't see the 70 R.R. video.

It is a good thing I don't own that car. I would daily drive the heck out of it - just awesome. Lou aught to put up some captions for all the information we missed out on due to the sound issues. I think we missed out on some interesting facts about the car. And, what's up with not being able to see the motor? I thought I heard something along the lines of "he doesn't want anyone to see that".

Beautiful car! British Layland Zanda concept car had the acceleration, coasting and braking taillights in 1970 and that car, nor the rear lighting never made production neither! It was a good idea but the general public never would've adapted to it!

Cool car! However, there is a problem. You can't really make out what she's saying during much of the video. And what exactly was the Rapid Transit Caravan? I'm guessing it was made up of these apparently factory customized cars and used by Chrysler to promote their line-up.

Wow... I can only think this..... lookin' at the profile of that car.....Richard Petty would have won a whole bunch more races if that had ever become a production item.

Damn Lou, those clueless estate caretakers seemingly don't know much at all about these cars, ignorant in how to open the hoods on any of these cars as to reveal their engines? In what reality would the engine bays of these rapid transit Mopar show cars out of bounds to gaze apon? As it only sounded, like someone really needs to open this roadrunners hood to tweak the carb on that 383, that was seemingly about to fall flat on its face, while idling on start up?...What the goes on here Lou, Engine highlights are unequivically mandatory on these automotive videos!!!...8P

The coloured taillights were deemed too confusing for the general public...too bad, I think it's a good idea, but I'm not the average person so...it makes sense to me

One wonders how they avoided the crusher? Typically all show cars, prototypes and test vehicles get crushed and shredded. I used to work with the man who personally cut up Chrysler turbines - used a cutting torch. Nothing over a foot wide left. Every once in a while cars like these show up. Like they just discovered a Shelby Mustang test car - worth millions. My old man got to drive an early Mazda with a wankel rotary engine - he wanted that car badly but it ended up scrapped.

This what happens when people with a lot of money but no taste get ahold of a classic muscle car.
