Join Ian as he continues work on his 1972 Toyota Celica 18RG engine swap. This time around there’s discovery and work to be done on the distributor, water pump, side draft carburetor balance tube and an addition of an oil catch can to top it all off.

I'm almost positive that I was a long time subscriber but had to resubscrib always hear people talking about that problem... have a cupple ra21 rotten body's that I plan to build 71 and 73 one still has the old 18r motor still in it I'm planning on doing the dohc swap on the head and remember seeing Dale on market place back before you bought him and am glad that I got a home he deserves and get to fallow along

You asked a question about a part that you were not able to identify. That part is actually a Valve ACCORDING TO THE tOYOTA pARTS MANUAL FROM (56145-75 pARTS cATALOG OR mANUAL . FOR THE 18R-GU FROM 1975. MODEL TA-23

Nothing beats old school! Love the old tech. My Asian neighbors all have Teslas and EVs and all that modern ugly stuff that all looks the same. They'll never understand the beauty of a real old school classic car. Also JB weld can come off on a smooth surface. To get it to stick carve some grooves on both surfaces. JB weld bonds better on rough clean surfaces because it'll give it something to grab onto.

I hit it with a red scotchbrite.. I just didn't get it on video. A file would have probably made more of the chunky surface you're talking about though. Great tip and I'll definitely do that when what I put on this time... falls off :D

i think when you jbweld the intake bridge you block the hole where an allen key would fit to adjust it,i am blocking vaccum leaks on my 18rg too

I definitely noted that I blocked the holes that would be needed to access the inside bolt holes that hold the bridge down. I’m hoping that the 2 outside holes and rtv will keep it from leaking. I don’t know about the adjustment.. I’m sure I messed something else up there too. Time will tell I guess.
