This is a continuation of the work performed on my '73 Bertram 28 FBC. Motors are installed on vessel and running great! vessel was splashed and ready so I thought but as we all know, it's never that easy. Fuel tank had a pin hole leak that I only noticed when the fuel tank was filled.

Aluminum fuel tanks condensate. Anywhere they make contact with structure and can’t dry, they corrode. They must have an air flow around them. I would replace with a new poly tank. I’m saying this because I’ve lived this. Great boat!

What I ended up doing is completely removing the old fiberglass tank and making a new 3/16” aluminum tank with the bottom 3rd of the tank being epoxy coated. The tank is separated from the stringers as well as from the hull so not it breathes all around. I’ll show that in my next video

I know this is an older post but where did you get your engines from?

Just started watching your vids as I acquired a 28. It was free 99 but is a complete restoration. I will definitely have questions. Mainly on the repower. I am guessing you repowered with new engines?

I repowered with "new" engines but to keep it simple, I stayed gas inboard. Went from Ford 302 to SBC

Question because I'm thinking of buying a resto project .. do you think Cummings 6bt's will fit in the 28 ? Thanks.

6BT are much to big for the 28. These go with 4BT or Yanmar 4LH. 6BT is Bertram 31 territory.

@@nicolasmabru will the 6LH’s fit. I saw one repowered with the 4LH’s

@@therustyblades1212 4LH is the go to engine on diesel reposer or Cummins 4BT although the cummins seem a bit underpowered IMO. 6LH will not fit without substantial modifications.

Now I see what you asked that, I am editing my previous comment now as I had meant to type 4LH
