Just a quick tutorial on how to remove the intake manifold with the stock zenith stromberg carburettors attached as well as remove the stock cast iron exhaust manifold on a Triumph TR6. This is a similar process for the Triumph TR2, TR3, TR4, TR4A and TR250.

Thanks for the video, gave me the confidence to replace the broken exhaust manifold on my 1975 TR6, took about an hour and a half to strip down and just over 2 hours to put back, car a lot quieter now and seems to run a lot smoother, once again thanks.

I remember rebuilding the Zenith's on my TR250 back in the day. One of them had a torn diaphragm, as I recall. I didn't know what the heck I was doing, but with the help of my trusty Haynes manual I was able to figure it out

Yes, I carry a few spare diaphragms in the glove box just in case. Thanks for watching and commenting Andrew.

Well it took until THIS weekend to knock it out but the video was tremendously helpful and made the task easy peasy! It was a warm winter day too which made it more enjoyable. Now to clean up these bits and pieces over the winter

Another great video Chef. I envy your clean engine bay. I dread removing the engine and trans to clean and repaint mine, but it has to be done.

I'm learning more and more about these amazing heat engines, and seeing less and less what the point is, given the emerging alternatives. I suspect enthusiasts will still be modding and improving these reciprocating monsters with all their fluid connections a century from now, though.

The point is, they're fun (in my opinion). Modern cars are boring appliances, whether they are powered by electric, hydrogen, diesel...they all look the same, and they are all automatics (no fun).

My pleasure Carl. Not sure if you have the dual down pipe or single, but if you look a little further along in my videos, I did a full stainless steel exhaust installation. Thanks for watching.

New Invention: A Centrifugal Rotary Turbo Intake, simply throw a synchronous drive belt over the air cleaners, would be a great conversation starter at a car show, You are a fun and crazy guy, aren't you ChefTush?

Very good "how to" Tush. My vote is for ceramic powder coating the exhaust manifold. It will be the last treatment you'll ever do for it. Also, good cautionary note on the gasket matching the head, (not necessarily the year of the car) With the age of our cars, no telling what may have been done (head swap), by the P.O. Cheers!
@cheftush
@cheftush 3 года назад
Hi Kevin, yes the ceramic coating would be a good option here. I don’t have a place locally to do it unfortunately and with lockdown, I wouldn’t be able to get it done until after the 20th of May..and, there is a two week lead time at the shop where I took my header for the 250. So, looks like it might be painted for now.

Nice job ! Just one question. Wouldn'it be easier to remove the carbs first and to remove the inlet manifold in a easier way ?
@cheftush
@cheftush 10 месяцев назад
You can do that but I prefer to do it with the manifold attached.

I'm curious about why you are such a "Triumph Freak". I know why I am such an animal, and my Triumph friends each have their own back stories, but what does your addiction stem from, O' Tushhy One? Do tell. 😎👍

Hi Jerry, I used to be a muscle car guy and then one day saw a Triumph TR6 and fell in love with the lines and knew I needed one. I think I was about 21 at the time I bought my first one….I had it for a few years but had to sell it and a couple of muscle cars in order to fund the purchase of my first house. I said at that time that I’d have another one when I was able to….when I turned 40, I got my second TR6, the one you see in these videos. I’d always enjoyed working on cars but this TR6 was my first full, frame off, nut and bolt restoration. I enjoy working on the cars as much as I enjoy driving them….that’s probably a good thing if you own several of them 😉

I have a 69tr6 and I don’t think I have all those hoses for emissions on mine, is that how these early models came? Or are mine missing? I’m in the process of restoring so I’m not sure what’s missing and what’s not
@cheftush
@cheftush 5 месяцев назад
Hi Danny, the earlier cars had less emissions and less hoses. Have a look at the moss motors website parts diagrams. They have emissions diagrams broken down for the various years.
