how to change your Tr6 door check strap 

Great video. When I tried to change mine, but I couldnt work out how the old strap came off, so in the end left the original ones. I thought mine were broken because of the snapping noise but I know better😆

Good Video John. One important thing to mention is, while that check strap is removed, is not to open the door very wide or you will put a nice crease in your door skin….if someone is doing this repair outside in the driveway and the wind catches it for example. I’m sure you’ve seen a few TR6’s with that telltale crease….

Thanks for doing this John. Easier than I thought it would be. I am surprised that that bang is considered normal, on my other cars a bang like this is usually a sign of a broken check strap rather than a working check strap. I might as suggested try grease on mine to help ease the noise

Nice video. One topic I haven’t seen others cover in regard to these classic British roadsters is the use of ‘pozidriv’ screws and screwdrivers.

Thanks for this. I have a new check strap in the garage waiting to be installed but now I’m thinking that the A-pillar part of the mechanism might be my problem…

Sadly to remove the check strap ,the door skin must be removed
