Got me an 84 K10 350 swb 4spd. I love the stance and 74 grille. Think Im gunna copy that from you. But i like shiny, so ill go with a tu-tone metallic paint. Brown n burgundy! My 350 is bad so lookin at a 383 kit, and maybe a nv4500 swap too.
I agree. Stick with a 12.50 & 6 inches will save the sheet metal on the Chevy. I have a 4" with Dana 44HD & 14FF on my '74 K5. There's 36 12.50 16.5's on it & when I wheel it hard it gnaws the body. Fortunately the rust-mites have taken care of some of the bodywork too.
Mine is six inch lift on 35s as well and it’s perfect! I personally don’t recommend the 4 inch lift at all, for any reason unless it’s a short box or a blazer. I feel the proportions aren’t right for a long box if you’re running a short box like this truck then it’s slightly acceptable in my opinion but I actually prefer the long box fleet side overall that’s just my preference and I really don’t care that it’s not as desirable than that of a short wheelbase truck like the shorty or the blazer. I guess I just feel a mans truck should be big, long, tall and tough like the biggest thing on the road but the shorty is perfect for like my wife who can’t manage a big truck. Not to be offensive or anything that again is just my opinion but they are definitely still the nicest trucks out there regardless.
Man, it took me a long time to find that bed liner. I ran into the same issue. After calling over a dozen shops, one of them managed to have one. This was 10 years ago. Its a Pendaliner that was actually meant for a 76+, but this one fits. I wonder if you can just go to the Pendaliner website and get it there now.
@@Septantrionalis I know what you mean, I can't find one to save my life. Pendaliner actually made one for a 76? I guess I could try Pendaliner and see what they say
Hey man I love the set up you got, it looks like its squatting a lil bit in the back, is the more of a lift on the front and what size rims do you have
Yeah, I noticed that too. Its a 4" Tough Country lift with 35's on the front and back so I'm not quite sure why the rear looks lower. I may add a spacer. As for the rim size, I can't remember. I'll have to dig out my old paperwork.
What a beautiful machine, it sure is gorgeous. Do the 35's rub with a 4" lif? Im working on a 77 k15 Sierra shortbox that im dropping a 383 stroker into. Your tire size and lift is the combo i want to run but unsure if I need more lift.
I wouldn't recommend it for everyone, but I am coming up on ten years of driving this truck as a daily. Its actually not that bad once you get used to it.
@@Septantrionalis well I'm quite used to it they are just not fuel efficient thats all and with gas as expensive I would rather just drive my old cherokee, they are definitely one of my favorite trucks, I got mine with 69k miles and I love it 👍💪🇺🇲
@@Scottsdale_Charlie True. I think the stroker I have in the truck gets around 9-10 MPG. Its all good. I get more smiles per gallon driving this thing.
I have a '73 myself that I am working on, and I'm in the process of installing a 4" BDS lift kit and looking for the right size tire too. Some buddies of mine, and several forums, say that 35's will rub if turned fully and suggest I get 33's instead. Have you had any instances with rubbing on your truck here?
Hey, do you have the tire and rim specs? Id love to do the same thing, rim width and backspacing and inch size and the tire size would be much appreciated
I didn't do anything. I had it all done at one time -- 4" Tuff Country lift, wheels, and tires and I don't remember doing any specific back spacing on the wheels.
Cam: Melling 22280 with Vortec heads. The engine is the "Wise Guy" 383 Stroker from West Coast Engines. I need to take a better video of the engine itself. I've really cleaned up the engine and dressed it up since taking this video.
I did not. Its actually a $400 paint job from Maaco and its holding out surprisingly well. I painted it towards the beginning of 2016. The truck stays outdoors and the paint still looks really good.
I actually don't know the answer to that. I didn't mess with the diffs when fixing up the truck. All I know is that the rear is a 12 bolt and the front is 10 bolt. It wouldn't surprise me if those are still stock.
Yeah, I was curious about this too. The truck is definitely a 1974. The title/registration lists the truck as a 74 which matches the VIN on the truck. I did notice the missing drip rails when I got the truck, but no idea why.
@@Septantrionalis what would you pay for a 1980 k10 shortbox really good condition. Im conflicted on one im looking at with the price. Its all original.
@@ugna2773 I don't know much about the 80's square bodies. You may have to look online and see what people are selling them for. I got mine professionally appraised and they came back with $25k.
