Glad to see you back another job well done anytime I can find an old Rototiller I try to scarf them up as quick as possible because I hate to see those old things go to the scrap yard I love Rototiller’s I have an obsession with them

That's the same model Sears tiller as well, I used to ride it backwards and shift like a hotrod , luckily I'm still alive haha

Great video Jeff. This old tiller is well made and heavy duty. They don't make them like this anymore.

Good job. I think you lucked out finding a suitable carb. I'm currently working on a similiar machine from Sears with an 8 hp Briggs.

Jeff the fuel filter,that's on it,I was told it was for a engine with a fuel pump.Gravity feed uses the little round filter.
@JeffsLittleEngineService
@JeffsLittleEngineService 3 года назад
I use these aftermarket fuel filters on everything fuel pump or not.. The little round briggs filters only have a mesh screen to filter things out and are not as good at filtering in my opinion

Good job , wow that's an expensive carburetor , you know I've had good luck with those China carburetors so far . Not to say that could come too an end tho . Enjoyed the old roto triller repair . I don't work on very many of those old Tecumseh 's 😀

I have a brand new one from China that I don't really need....it's the same color as the blue tiller.

Ive got the same tiller. Carb is leaking like a sieve from the upper bowl gasket and the lower high speed adjustment screw. I guess a replacement carb is the best way to go rather than trying to source upper orings / gaskets and one for the lower high speed adjustment screw.
@JeffsLittleEngineService
@JeffsLittleEngineService 2 года назад
rebuild kit is probably still available. Stick with original carburetor if you can. The cheap new chinese made carbs fail frequently.

@@JeffsLittleEngineService Thanks for the reply. I think my carb is too far gone as the inside has some rust and I bet the needles are all corroded and gunked up. OEM replacement is a bit spendy so I will try one of the Cheap Chinese with the acceptance that I may have to replace it soon. I can get 4 Cheap Chinese for the price of one OEM.

Hey Jeff---- I have the exact same roto-spader you show in your video. It will start but not as easily as yours did in the video but it will start. However, I cannot get the unit to rev up and suspect it is the spring part of the governor linkage. At full extension it doesn't change engine rpm and at no extension the spring just collapses. I can get the engine to rev up by jockeying individual parts of the governor linkage, and the throttle control in between the handle bars is free. How to resolve this cause it is in great shape and trans and oil are excellent. thanks.

Have you ever heard a Vac-u-mow lawn mower before?
@adriansnyder7189
@adriansnyder7189 3 года назад
Hey Jeff--- It has been 4 months since my last post and I've heard no response. All the governor linkages are free but the cable handle that mounts between the handle bars, even though it moves the linkages, will not cause engine to rev up. Need advice.
@JeffsLittleEngineService
@JeffsLittleEngineService 3 года назад
It is hard to say what may be wrong. You should be able to rev up the carburetor by hand. By moving the throttle plate on top. This may show you where the cable/linkage/govenor/throttle assembly problem may be. Good luck!

What's your opinion on, and do you have any videos covering gas pressure washers with E-Start function? It has a 12v battery that starts the engine and the engine maintains the battery. Is it just a push button start type thing instead of a pullcord? Or does it work like an electric style total start/stop function, stopping then restarting the engine when you pull the trigger and engage the pump? That would be *super* awesome. Total stop/start is the one and only reason I use electric over gas. I do professional paint correction, so I'm only using it for a minute or so at a time, then a few minutes at idle while I wash the car. Having to stop and start the engine constantly is a huge hassle and time sink.

So was that Tecumseh engine points and condenser ignition?
@JeffsLittleEngineService
@JeffsLittleEngineService 3 года назад
I assume so because of how old it was. Luckily I never had to look because it fired up and ran great!
