This is the second bike that I wanted to do a frame-up restoration. The other has moved on to a new owner. This thing has fought me from the beginning and this video is no exception.
Dang Jack, this is a true mystery!! I have had a heck of a time fighting a gremlin on the 73 DT3 I have. It will run like a new bike after I work on it, I park it for a few days and it will not want to run. I have been fighting with it for almost a year and still can't figure it out. Keep at it I know you will get it worked out.
@@oldguysoldbikes You're welcome Jack! I'm watching more of your video's right Now! I'm 63 and I still tinker around with similar Stuff, Mostly small engines, ETC.
I appreciate your stick to it-tiveness. I'm almost embarrassed to suggest this, but considering your meticulousness, I'm wondering if it's not something simple, like the ignition switch. When you were testing for spark that last time in the video, was the key in the ON position? Keep up the good work!
Once again as I said in the video; thank goodness it was ALMOST! Why would I say that? Well, it could be because you are absolutely correct. I believe that I must have left the key in the OFF position and because I had the wire to the ignition coil disconnected I forgot that the ground put on the coil from the switch is still connected to the part of the circuit that I was trying to test. I'll explain more in my next video. Thanks a bunch for your input. I haven't looked yet, but I'm pretty sure that's it.
@@oldguysoldbikes My knowledge is more for the mx YZ250s starting in 77. Things that caused issues for me was a rod that during a lock up became shorter than it should have been. it looked and worked just fine, but being a little shorter messed things up. Another is the piston. Yamaha changed the intake side skirt of the piston every year. Make sure the piston you used matches the original. Also simple things like too much oil or the wrong oil in the air filter will also do what you having issues with. I just found your channel so don't be upset if I go over thing you have already covered.
@@MichianaFisherman Thanks Michiana, I NEVER get upset with people who respond to my videos. Even if what they say is, shall we say, not flattering to me.
