This 1970’s era, color movie touts the many features and engineering improvements of the 1975 Chevy Van line. The film is narrated and titled "Lasting 1975 Chevy Vans Value". The movie opens with a red and white van riding down the street and backing into a narrow alleyway. Cargo doors open from the back and cargo is loaded and accessible from the front and the side :46. An animation shows key design elements of a Chevy van 1:00. The placement of the engine is key to good design 1:22. A mechanic opens the hood of a Chevy van and does a maintenance check 1:33. The unitized body frame design is employed on Chevy vans 1:43. Animation shows aerodynamic design and weight load distribution 2:00. The large unobstructed windshield is displayed 2:15. 110 and 125-inch wheelbases are standard 2:20. Only 4 ½ inches of clearance is required to open the side door 2:35. The rear doors can be opened 180° 2:45. Inside the van there is a full 53 ½ inches of width and 142 inches of depth for cargo 3:00. The large rear opening is 54.4 inches wide and 48.8 inches high 3:10. There is 296 cubic ft. of load space 3:15. Chevy can hold all the components of the large prefab swimming pool shown in the film 3:29. Chevy van, from end and is only 201 inches long and the van goes through an obstacle course to showcase its maneuverability 3:46. Getting in and out of the van is easy because the front wheels are located ahead of the doorway 4:06. A 404-barrel V8 engine is displayed 4:26. A Thrifty 250 6 engine is displayed 4:34. All engines on G 10 230 Vans are equipped with a high-energy ignition system with a hotter spark assuring a faster, surer start and increases spark plug life 4:55. Trucks with GVW rating of 6000 pounds and less have a new catalytic converter 5:04. This combination reduces emissions and improves fuel economy 5:12. The engines also include a new early fuel evaporation system which precedes fuel going into the cylinders. An animated short shows that this will result in faster warm-up, improving drivability while reducing emissions 5:23. Recommended service intervals have been extended: en go boy gine oil and chassis lube, up to 7500 miles 5:37. Oil filter, up to 15,000 miles 5:43 and spark plugs, up to 22,500 miles 5:40. Vans with GVW ratings over 6000 pounds do not have a catalytic converter and do not require unleaded fuel 5:50. Massive girder beam independent front suspension with coil springs at each front wheel that absorb road shock and protect cargo 6:17. Rear shock absorbers are staggered to reduce wheel hop 6:21. Tough, Salisbury type rear axles 6:35. To fight rust and corrosion all van doors and bodies are immersed in a bath of special priming paint 6:53. Two-tone van is showcased 7:05. The Beauville Sport van seats up to 12 people comfortably and features new high-back bucket seats, door closing assist straps and newly styled door trim panels 7:32. Many different Chevy models are shown 7:48. 102 cardboard boxes arranged in a 9.5 x 23’ stack will fit easily into this 10 foot high cube van. 480 cubic ft. capacity 8:08. Chevy vans, sport vans, high cube vans and cutaway vans are all built with Lasting Chevy Value. Legal disclaimer at the end notes that: "The product information contained herein, and vehicle shown, were correct at the time of filming. Chevrolet Motor Division reserves the right to make changes at any time in colors, materials, equipment specifications and models - and also to discontinue or add models." The film was written and produced by the Bill Sandy Company, Inc.
The Chevrolet Van (also known as the Chevrolet/GMC G-series vans) is a range of vans that was manufactured by General Motors from the 1964 to 1995 model years. Introduced as the successor for the rear-engine Corvair Corvan/Greenbrier, the model line also replaced the panel van configuration of the Chevrolet Suburban. The model line was sold in passenger van and cargo van configurations; cutaway van chassis served as the basis for a wide variety of vehicles.

MeTV has been rerunning "The A Team" for the past few months at 6PM (they quit on May 1st in favor of an extra hour of "MASH" as if anyone was asking for that) and one of the episodes I remember seeing had the villains hiring A-Team impersonators to drive around doing bad things so the real Team would get discredited. Fortunately; sometimes a plan doesn't come together and in this case the bad guys made a big mistake. Their black van was a Ford.

The opening theme made me wait for a black van to break through some wooden barrier and jump over a Volvo 164, exploding on impact.

They dropped the unitized construction they were bragging about in this video in favor of a body on frame set-up like Ford's when they did the big van redesign for '96.

It may be 142" floor space but it seems whenever loading stuff it's always only need just two more inches! They brag about front disc brakes, uhmm I think it was a legal requirement for all vehicles that year. Reminds me changing brake pads myself, disc brakes so much easier. Drum brakes an agonizing PITA, trying to get those springs unfastened or fastened. And for some reason it just never aligns enough to put the drum back on. Back in the days vans I favored the old Dodge vans from the sixties when engine placed between driver and passenger. It offered a nice center seat, heated too. Engine "seat" didn't have seatbelts (but then nobody used those anyway). Also it offered ability to do repairs on engine without going outside, nice if it was raining. When vans started to appear with forward engine, no third seat and had to go outside to fix the engine (remember back in those days, engine repairs like flat tires was common occurrence). Interesting mention about catalytic converter, remember to ***never*** fill up with leaded gas (will ruin it!).

It’s so funny when Americans talk about the economy of their vehicles, but persistently even today they incorporate V8 engines into all possible means of transportation.
