This is a donor unit to be used for the determination of what is causing the other to have a slow start-up. It runs fine, but has a minute "start up" period I'd like to solve. Goes slow for about a minute before the speed locks in solid. Could if be the lamps I used in the repair? The resistance of a hot light bulb is higher than a cold light bulb. (The lamps have to be good for the circuit to function), a bad capicitor?, a germanium transistor?, or the motor itself? The boards employ European type striped capacitor (no printed values) for the values. I'm unfamiliar with that coding system.

I have this turntable. The problem with it is that when you touch the speed buttons, the light comes on and it begins to function but as soon as you release your finger, they stop working. This has always been an excellent turntable, and I like the fact that you can adjust the speed. Always worked very well.

I have one of these that I ripped out the crappy cue controls and on-off switch (put a thumb switch on the power line) and it sounds really good--as good as my old AR table with the similar suspension. Fortunately, the touch switches still work on mine, but I'm not holding my breath that they will last too long.

Hello I just got a philips 312 ! But the needle lever switch on the bottom right doesn’t work Sounds like it’s not an electric issue More of just a lever But what do I know Could you guide me through what I have to do or how to open it ? Perhaps you have a video already? Thank you

I have this exact table. Lighted switches come on but switch between each other back and forth. Turntable comes on but doesn’t stay on because of the switches alternating. Any idea what I should do?

Knew a guy (in the old days) in Brooklyn that had this Philips GA-212 turntable. It was very impressive for a moderately priced unit. Specs weren't great; rumble 62dB and wow/flutter 0.1% but acceptable for mid 1970's. My Pioneer PL-518 (from 1978) had 73dB rumble and 0.045% wow/flutter. Still though, this GA-212 wasn't a bad component.

I just got one of these as a gift. It was from an estate sale. I don’t know much about electronics or turntables, but when I play a record.. every so often in the middle of the record it suddenly shuts off. What could be the problem? Any help would be appreciated.

There's an electric eye & lamp that controls the stop action via. the tonearms position. Worth checking that.

I’m a beginner. Is there a video in here describing how to safely unscrew and open the body without damaging the bulbs?

Need bulbs for touch speed buttons. WHERE can I find them please? Hi! I now own two of these with broken power switches. I will replace them but to get the T/T's going, I jumped them. They both run at 33 rpm but no matter how I "play" the STOP and speed buttons, I do not get 45! Will replacing the dead bulbs help? I hope so! WHERE can I find them please? Can you tell me (us) the specs for the bulbs please? Sincerely, Bob, in Canada

I replaced them, with a similar spec. lamp. A grain of wheat type or something with similar rating. The ratings are printed on the lamp base. They are an odd non standard current. I've been told 2 things: The lamps current are part of the circuit to function, & also told it does not matter. I think it might. I've bought LED replacements, but not tried them. Other folks have substituted LED with no problem. Perhaps the current draw of the LED's was in the same ballpark to function properly.

Just replaced the bulbs (stop,33,45) with those leds: www.ebay.com/itm/170568242557?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT, and added 220ohm resistor in series to drop the voltage to 5V (it was ~6.8V with the leds). It works and looks great. Also replaced the 2 electrolytic capacitors.

I bought these in green. www.ebay.com/itm/6pcs-DC3V-24V-E10-screw-T10-concave-led-detect-Singal-light-bulb-crystal-lamp-/161425787179?pt=Apparel_Merchandise&var=&hash=item2595ba092b PS I'm going to replace those electrolytics. Thank you for the info.

Spiros Ioannou good morning, the replacement bulb it's the same at the original used on philips ga 212 ? or i'ts a diferent voltage? why use resistance 220ohm? , and the electrolityc capacitor what it's the reason of change?

Fabian Alvarez Hello, I have GA312,similar to 212. The led bulb was rated at 6V, but because it drew less current than the original the voltage was 6.8V so I used the 220ohm to prolong the LED life. I also needed to change the polarity on one screw because LEDs need the + on the tip. The touch controls became much more responsive. The capacitors needed replacement because the voltage was not optimal. See the service manual: www.vinylengine.com/library/philips/ga-312.shtml
