I can only imagine what the fertile mind of the one and only Billy Connolly would have to say about the American Deep South. I'm sure that Billy would be as bemused as I am at how such a place could even be considered to be deep in so many things that the rest of the world has known for ages upon ages but seems to some kind of a revelation to those in the Deep South of the good old USA. Biily Connolly makes people laugh purely by observation of the human race like nobody else. Billy's observations are never meant to be hurtful to those that don't deserve to be hurt while giving those that do deserve a good dose of comeuppance to get what they do deserve. He not only gets away with what he has to say that might not be popular with some but is very often cherished and admired for saying what many would like to say but don't out of fear of being ostracized themselves or worse yet from an overt desire to stay on the safe side of political correctness. Billy Connolly said "to hell with political correctness" a long time ago and we should all be thankful that he did.

As much as I like Billy Connolly I think that there are a couple of other stand up comedians who might be able to lay claim to being the first Rock Star Comedian. I'm referring to the great and very controversial Lenny Bruce and George Carlin for basically the same reason. Anyone that hasn't heard of these two simply don't know the history of stand up comedy very well.

@@jamesguitar7384 Possible yes. Likely no. And only if you are unlucky enough to be outside on that one day in July or August. The odds aren't good that someone is going to be sunburned the rest of the time.

@@richardwestmoreland4796 Actually climate wise Glasgow is one of the best places in Scotland. The surrounding hills and mountains protect it against snow and it gets the warmer air from the Gulf Stream. The South of England is a bit warmer but not that much ( I think ). Of course please feel free to correct me .

A common refrain from women that can't see the truth in so much of what he says because of the way that he says it. Billy Connolly will never be known for being politically correct with a lot of his material and I say so be it. He is crude at times but those that are fans of Connolly couldn't care less. I highly suspect that you are probably about as exciting as watching paint dry or the grass grow in terms of what is funny. I get that he is not going to be everyone's proverbial cup of tea largely because so many people just can't come to terms with his use of what some see as vulgarity to get his point across or to amuse others. Billy knows what his audience expects from him and the audience reciprocates by accepting him for who he is. '
