Part 2 of the Cessna 337 discussion and demonstration flight with Elvis Ramon of Tampa, Florida. The Cessna 337G performed very well and is nicely equipped. This aircraft is available for sale and has been well cared for in ownership. There was an unusual beeping sound and if you have any thoughts on the source/indication, please leave in the comments. Stay Safe!!

Fun flight. Always something to look out for or work through. Such is aviation. Thanks for taking us along on his lovely 337!

Should start rear engine first so you can hear it start and run. Eight hundred plus hours of charter in Northern Maine.

Gear horn to warn you if your have pulled the throttles back too far without dropping the gear. Regulated by a micro switch on top of each engine above the throttle assembly. There is a little cam that rotates and opens and closes the switch. They are adjustable with the two screws which hold the micro switch on the mounting plate. You find where the cam equals about 17” manifold pressure and set the switch to come on there. That way, if you are coming in to land and retard the throttles without dropping the gear, the horn reminds you. See the Aviation101 video on RU-vid posted in November 2023 with the skymaster.

I thought I remembered the POH saying to start the rear engine first and also lead with the rear on take off.

He might be Elvis, but he sure damn looks like Carroll O'Connor!

Bleeping is undercarriage not deployed, caused by faulty throttle position switch either front or rear. It thinks the plane throttle were closed for landing. Micro Switch. Easy to test.

I agree, switch stuck /needs adjustment to reflect proper position. Thanks for the insight and thanks for watching. Cheers!!

I flew only one airplane that was louder than this one. That was the super charged queen air. At sea level that thing could pull forty eight inches of manifold pressure. Is loud

Actually, not too noisy with cabin secured. And if we had noise cancelling headsets, would be no issue. Nice airplane and a novel approach from Cessna in the 1950s to design this classic. Thanks for watching!!

so are you going to sell your 310Q and buy the 337?

You know, it is somewhat tempting to consider the pressurized 337 but still renovating the 310 and staying put for now. High wing is more stable and entry is easier for us older pilots. And of course, single engine performance is a thing. But not changing planes just yet. Thanks for watching!!

You might have in intermittent OPEN in the wiring to either the front or the rear switch on the throttle cams, or one of the switches might be defective. Not a problem. To silence the horn, remove *(unscrew) the GREEN down light... and when you're ready to land, re-insert the bulb and you'll be fine. The system is designed so that anytime the gear is up and throttles are retarded below a predetermined MP, usually around 20-inches, the horn activates... so that you don't inadvertently land with the gear up. Best to review the expanded coverage in your Pilot Operating Manual on the landing gear. Blue skies...

That is a gear unsafe horn.

Agreed, the interesting condition was that the panel did not indicate any issue, airspeed was correct for condition of flight, flight controls showed no effect, visual scan inside and out showed no anomalies. So probable squat/gear switch issue where adjustment needed to correct for gear stowed. Thanks for watching and the insightful comment. Cheers!!

@@billinga This isn't a squat switch issue. The gear was clearly retracted for you to get appropriate airspeed. The issue is the gear warning horn microswitch on top of each engine.
