It took me two or three tries to get it right myself, and then I realized I had forgot to film it. I will post a much more in depth installation process when I buy one of these again in the future. personally though I used a two stroke micrometer that threads into the spark plug hole and then wound it until the piston was 3mm before TDC, then lightly ran the rotor in with the marks lined up to stop it from moving, then took out the mic and torqued down the rotor and it seemed to work perfect. hope this helps and I will definitely explain more in depth in future!
Did you ever do another video with how to do the timing? I have the same kit and have damn near no idea what I'm doing in that regard. I don't even know where to begin with timing. Bought my MR175 Elsinore as an impulse buy and think I bit off more than I can chew.
Unfortunately no, i never did a video like that, i should have as it would have helped a lot of people out there it seems. The kit should come with instructions, it has been a long time since i did this myself so i cant really remember how i did it, but it just takes time, you will get there! Maybe ask on a forum post or search for a previous one?
You need a dial indicator through thr spark plug. Zero out TDC and you have to set it a couple mm before TDC. Every bike is different. Shouldn't be hard to find tho. Every time your piston hits thay part the spark will go off
I ended up selling the bike for $6600 AUD, taking into account the bike wasn't perfect and it was restored by a kid who hasn't really made a quality name for himself in the restoration world yet. good luck with your 79!
