It was a horrible car, vacuum hoses everywhere. My Dad had one. He actually put new rod bearings in it with the motor in the car! He put it up on stands, removed the oil pan and rolled the top bearings out with a pick and rolled new ones in, plastic gauged everything put it back together and got over 200,000 on it before he died. He never let an oil change go over 2,000 miles from new. That car always needed something ,a new hose, water pump ,starter but he kept it going and it lasted years after his passing. Not because it was a great car but because my Dad never gave up.

Datsun had a similar spare tire system. It was mainly to save space, but once you got your tire fixed you'd never get that spare squished back down to size.

I had a 77 with a 6 cylinder in it. It smoked and used so much oil. I poured chainsaw bar and chain lube in it. It was so thick it would last longer plus it was cheap. 3 dollars a gallon

Also Rev :) if ever get a Mercury Monarch it same type car as Ford Granda are same way made also set up also tons in sales to when made and I sold a 1979 Mercury Monarch in 1995 for $1000.00 was Black &Black Cherry Red stripe and Black interior with Black tint windows! Great car had Sunroof in 2 door well take care of too plus all options can get even Power ones plus radio antenna power options too and even full spare tire too never used ever! Had 302 V8 with 4 barrel daul exhaust with Overdrive Automatic transmission with 373 rear end gears! But funny 3 option like was had 2 style colors power Sunroof, also gas Door to open and close feature and Power antenna to but interior switch control on dash so cars wash won't break off !

I had a 1977 bought it new straight six four speed on floor they called it overdrive bench seat tranny was top loaders with a high 4th ratio 60 mph was about 2000 rpm would tach out about 6100 rpm it was a freeway runner and could keep up high speed all day. Wish I had keep it now. Best run was Youngstown Ohio to McGuire AFB NJ 5 hours 15 min figured the air force would get me out of jail at least

I had a 1976 Granada. I kept hearing "That survived the cash for clunkers?!" Anyway, 4.1 inline 6, skinny tires, hit 80mph the car would scream "KILL MEEEE!!!!!!", people kept rear ending it (Brake lights worked!) And not a ding to the rear bumper, only able to fuel it half a tank because the tank rusted out on the top, it would eat carburetors and everytime I kept adjusting the distributer because it would run like crap usually every 2 days after I get it running right, jokingly rigged a header and straight piped it (Sounded actually nice), God forbid if I had to slam the brakes (I live in NJ where it's flooded with New Yorkers and old people) and the ass of it would break loose and spin me out, a gust a wind took off the inside door handle, and it was a rare 2dr. I miss that hunk of crap.

I never realized the 2 Door's where not in abundance. My 1st car in 1987 was my parents 1979 they had since New. It had the inline 6 with a 1 barrel Carburetor. And Yes at 80 mph it was Screaming... At 160.000 miles I traded it in for a 3 yo Monte Carlo SS & boy did I start acquiring Speeding tickets.

@@patrickburke7929 Nice, my father had a '76 Monarch coupe w/ the 250, it actually would go over 100 mph (down hill!), nuts that it went that fast, haha! It was dead reliable, it took a tree falling on it to kill it sadly. It was a cool color combo, black on black with gold pin striping along w/ black & gold wheels.

Excellent video Rev :) also Ole Man your Dad & Moose the Dog and whole family going enjoy that pet ! Also that Ford Granda car and my one Cousin Terry had one for his first car was 1980 4 door in Red color and had 250 Cylinder 6 2 barrel and Overdrive Automatic transmission plus lots goodies too ! In 1998 he put rebuilt of 1976 Ford 1/2 302 V8 4 barrel carb with daul exhaust, rebuilt transmission to put 377 rear end gears to and fast car too ! Sadly in 2002 car Terry had since 1991 and car in Winter Season months it blew tire on him and got rolled and car was not fix able anymore! But he survived accident okay with minor injuries Rev :) and got different vehicles since ! But my cousin Terry he bought car for $175.00 and put $1500.00 get road plus insurance too plus certified for road! Even with new motor and transmission and gears update plus exhaust too over years!

My Dad in 1979 Bought a coupe rite off the Showroom floor... It was 2-tone Black over Silver with aftermarket Dealer installed chrome Wire Wheels. Interior was Dark red... A inline 6 was the power plant. After 2 years my Dad needed something with more Pep. So mom got the Granada while Dad bought a new 1981 Mercury Marquis Brougham. In 1987 I became legal driving age so Dad got himself the all New 1987 F-150 XLT Lariat, mom got the Mercury & I got the Granada with 70.000 miles as my 1st Car...I was So Happy with that Granada. I remember Dad took it to Ford where it had been Serviced since New to have the while Car gone through so I would have No Problems on my 1st Day as it as mine. Dad even took it to Goodyear for New Tire's. I took great pride in that Granada & wish, like many still had my 1st car...

I miss my 1979 Granada with a 302 v8. Plenty of room .I let my mom drive it for a year or two. She ragged it out in no time. No car ever built lasted long with her despite my dads best efforts. I bet she owned 20 cars in her life( mostly used) ragged everyone of them out. My dad's cars and trucks lived long lives. In the end Mom wrecked his last car and truck too.

Those old Granada's front spindles can be used on a lot of old Ford's Mustangs Mavericks and I believe falcons, when you want to do a disc brake and 5 lug change over

Nice, i had 2 of these cars, but they were both 1975s both brown In color, 1 engine was bad, but it ran, someone bought as is, the other car, mother nature blew a tree on it, n totaled it, boy did that run smoth baby, I mean SMOOTH, SO SMOOTH, that I even got stopped twice for speedn, no tickets tho, just warnings. So what's gonna happen to this car, engine/transmission, you shoulda hopped in and stick it in reverse, n drive and see if she'll move jus a bit. Also shoulda checked transmission fliud & ENGINE OIL as well, BEFORE u started it great VIDEO!!!! ✌️👌👍😁 More please.

Glad you have moose I have Chubby my channel dog who is in my videos. I used to own a 1979 Granada but it had the old six cylinder not a V8 but drove it across the country and back. It fired up because the classics were built to last!! Unlike the plastic,aluminin crap currently,that it programmed purposely to be obsolete,rippoff!!..my favorite car is my 1974 buick century,with the 350, rear wheel drive,and the giant chrome bumpers that yell: 'get out the way'!! Our family was able to finally subscribe today..we are extremly poor after paying the bills& have been dumpster diving for meals..barely scrapping by..we love the classics as much as yall. Its a RUNNER - LOL.. here In the UK and Europe we have Granadas that are completely different made from the early 1970`s are BANGER RACERS favourite choice of car round our oval tracks.. So many got used, still being used, theres hardly any left to race, and yes even I raced them..Heres a video from way back a few years, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lo1lvm1sek0.html its whats called BANGER RACING, as I said this meeting was a one make one model meeting but could have been different years built and bodies fitted.. look at the crowds, we loved it at this that was my once local track, sadly sold on to greedy developers and had nothing done to it, - Any way, love your videos, and your old man too bless him, must be about my age of 73 ? - thanks again - Ian - UK.

When you're testing the coil just stick your finger inside the coil itself when you're turning it over it'll tell you if it's hot or not lol

Back in the 70's Ford tried very hard to market their Granada as a "Poor Man's Cadillac Seville". I used to park cars at restaurants in New York. I had the opportunity to drive both. There was no comparison. But, if I had the opportunity, I would love to find a junkyard '77 Grenada and fully restore it. Why? I don't know.

The US Ford Granada looks like more beautiful than Granada we had in Europe.Very interesting video,sometime a little bit complicate to understand American accent but I did it ,and so charming MADE IN USA.

Had a '77 silver Granada, 2 door with 302 and 4 speed floor shift. Like the Moose. The Moose is loose.

Did they call it a overdrive tranny. Was a top loader with a high ratio I had the six it was a freeway runner 2000rpm 60 mph 6100 was top rpm

That space saver spare tire with inflation can is worth some money to someone restoring a car that had one from factory! Don't throw it away. You could put 302 V8 and automatic transmission and rear differential in 65-66 6 cylinder Mustang? Just a idea! Take care and God Bless!

I bought a ‘77 Granada V8 back in the mid 80’s as a “beater” car, but it had low miles and in pristine condition!! I ended up loving it! The transmission eventually gave out and like an idiot, chose not to spend the money to get another one. I wish I had kept it. Can’t even find these anymore!

Cute pup, my first car was a brown 76 Granada 4 door 6 cyl, I paid $900 for it, the guy I bought it from was an alcoholic auto body man, the fenders were stuffed with rags and newspaper then covered with bondo and paint, the interior smelt bad and in less than a year I got rid of it
