Fiery 302 Search in Abandoned Car Graveyard - Which will it be the Thunderbird, Granada or Comet?

Im the 2nd owner of a 2003 F150 with 4.6L coming up on 380,500 miles still running strong on original drivetrain. The 4.6L is one tuff motor

I took my 302 engine off my rotted out 83 Mercury Grand Marquis and installed it in a 4 dr HARDTOP 58 EDSEL CITATION, WHICH WAS SOME WHAT A PAIN IN THE REAR, BUT DID IT, had to extend drive shaft as that car is lonnggg😱😵 oh my gosh, and I had to use an older different auto trannsmision, and I took off the complete intake manifold, with the fuel injected thottle body carburator, and I installed an older intake, for 2 barrel carb, but I also had to change the oil pan cause it had 2 sumps on it, it interfered with the front axel assembly, so I bought a new pan with only the 1 front sump, fits perfect, and runs excellent. If you replace the head gaskets in that F-150, I would recommend just pulling the engine to do it. Those ford modular engines are a bit difficult to work on in tight spaces. I can't really tell if that intake is aluminum from the video or plastic, but if if by chance its plastic those like to crack leak water/coolant over the intake and get into the sparkplug holes vary easily, which can cause misfire and leak into the cylinder upon removal of the spark plug. If that's the issue an aftermarket intakes like $100 on eBay and a whole lot easier to fix than a head gasket

When it pops like that it’s called a lean sneeze give it more fuel and adjust your air fuel metering device when idling ! Make sure your knooter valve is open and the piston alignment return slack adjusters are closed all the way ! If that’s a 5.0 you’d want to rebuild it anyways for her Bronco so just yank and spank , place on an engine stand and go to town ! LMAO 😂

Rev, a guy can't work on a rig without having some vicegrips!!!! That pickup started up pretty quick, goodness!!! The fuel make it happener barked out some flames..that's,,, fine...We'll pretend we didn't see that..

Excellent video Rev :) also Dad :) great teamwork and glad found a another 302 from your dad collection vechile also when get the 302 fix in Bronco get Engine Oil plus Oil filter, PCV Valve also Fuel filter , new spark plugs also wires to on it also Valve cover Gaskets job too ! Plus when do engine oil change also oil filter get a Bootle of Red cap called brand WYNNES Engine Flush put in Crankcase run on engine running for 10 mins also 5 mins low idle also 3 mins of higher idle not full throttle just of low idle and let off throttle 2 mins for low idle then 10 mins be up ! Shut down engine drain plug out also use rag because drain plug be hot 🔥 also drain completely out also put in but no tighten up and do engine oil filter plus new one on then do drain plug till stops too! Then put drain plus in also clean to first the put in and add new engine oil no synthetic type motor oil 10w30 of Pennizoil or White Castrol GTX bottles or jug till full and add new stuff to motor! If smell Paint Remover or see lots steam come off engine doing revs for 10mins plus after for a week to after add new engine oil stuff it okay ! It saying did right also clean motor out and refresh to new life ! Plus you say holy crow that amazing stuff Andrew thanks tell me try this out ! Also do every 3 year's never have rebuilt motor feeling for sure and restored it to feels like! Also when put new antifreeze in Bronco get to NAPA Auto parts store of brand name called RISLONE brand it jelly fluid add to rad to plus on top antifreeze fluid also shake up and add till full plus add to Resivor Overflow go in rad cap to and run engine for 30 to 1 hour 60 mins too ! It seal leaks plus gaskets on whole motor too and worth it doing both things plus lube water pump also thermostat too! Also that 302 be healthy motor for years also change thermostat plus gasket and water pump to plus rad hoses too!

I did watch every video vicegrip garage put out but once he hit the big time with the sponsors free parts and lawn equipment it went past what a normal person could do on a weekend and I lost interest. I mean good on him for making it, it’s just not what I wanna see anymore. It’s kind a like Roadkill. It was good when it was only on RU-vid. They now with Motortrend and it’s not the same. Try adding a few cans of Berryman B12 #0116 fuel system cleaner to the gas tank. It will clean that carbeurator right out. It really works. Keep up the good videos.

I notice that's a 87 or so Bronco with either an older engine or been changed to carburetor so depending on if they changed it to an older engine with older transmission if older transmission your going to have balance issues because they changed balance weights in 82

Don't forget about the ole Italian tuneup. It will bring that 302 right back around. I say pull the 302,put a Weiand Stealth intake on it,do a tune up,and set timing and bet she runs as smooth as a ice rink on a cold winter's day. Check fuel system on Bishop the Bronco and make sure fresh gas gets to the engine. Of course you know all this and know me and what I will say. My Ford mechanic and runs a Christian Auto Repair Service ie C.A.R.S. swears by the intake I keep suggesting. He uses his business to help local churches. You bring in a church bulletin and you get 10% off. Of course the idea is that the 10% you just saved goes into the collection plate on Sunday. I doubt too many know that but I do.

That block could be saved with a sleeve if you wanted to rebuild it down the line.

You should just eliminate all that stuff and put a Holley sniper or FiTech fuel injection on it. It is your wife's truck so it needs to be reliable.

You have to have the air intake tube hooked up for it to run , the mass air flow has to meter the air .

I love the revivals. In my opinion the 4.6 and 5.4 get too much hate. I will say they are an absolute pain to work on but ive seen many of them last to 250-300k miles. Keep up the good work.

4.6 is a tough motor. Got a 97 town car with 251000 still trucking along.

Very good video new a carburetor would fit

Put a hose into a jar full of gas, attach it to an intake port. The vacuum will suck up the gas and it will run. The bigger the hose the higher the RPM. Because the air fuel ratio is fixed you can't open the throttle, that would result in too much air causes and a lean backfire like you experienced. You can also back feed the fuel injectors using the Schrader valve but you need about 28 lbs. pressure on the fuel.

Great channel and content , befor you put a 2 bbl on the injected engine , check specs on the cam shafts , they may have different spec's done that on a chevy v 6 ,it had even less power after the swap ,just a thought, good luck .

Hey Rev, Ole Man, I think once you get all that old emissions JUNK off of the T-Bird engine and get it converted she'll run good for you. FYI Those years are notorious for ignition module failure inside the distributor not hard to replace but definitely a good idea to replace with a better quality and don't forget to put De Electric Grease on the bottom of the plate of the module or it will Cook it like an egg 🥚 and leave Nikki T Stranded. Put 351w I the bronco. Little more power on take off and top end it bolt right to the trans just have to change the flywheel
