Main bearings go bad on these bikes. I had a few mx, gt and yz 80's when I was a kid. All had basically the same bottom end.

I had a 'D'. I didn't find it bullet proof on bottom either. Lost gears pretty often BUT learned how to split cases....hmmm, maybe that's what was wrong?
