WOW! What a blast from the past. A flood gate of memories…. I don’t even know where to begin but if you are the new generation you must understand we had ZERO technology at this time other then a VCR ,MICROWAVE and INSTANT CAMERAS. I want to go back and live it all over again. The 70’s and 80’s were the best years of my life. We had the best TV shows and Specials back then and lived in the last of the best decades in America..it was the party of a life time and we lived it well. We had great shows like, Falcon Crest, Dallas, Knots Landing, Dynasty,The Waltons, Little House on the Prairie, The Six Million dollar man, The Dukes of Harzard, BJ and the Bear, Air Wolf, Battle Star Galactica! Knight Rider and for the first time ever the motion pictures of, Star Wars, Star Trek, Superman, Spider Man, Close Encounters of the third kind, E.T., Poltergeist, Jaws, Friday the 13th, Aliens, (No not the ones being aloud to just walk into our country right now in 2023), Predator and many more… We also celebrated the bicentennial in the 70’s when the entire country celebrated it from Apr 1, 1975 - Jul 4, 1976. It was like the 4th of July every day. It was fantastic!.…it was such a better time to be alive in this county. We never had the problems that are here today. It was unheard of for kids being shot and men walking around dressed as women. It was the last of America and we were lucky to have experienced it.

The 70s and 80s were a golden time for television, and radio too. Shows and music were so much better back then.

I used to watch this show every week, I believe it was Friday night. I was in 5th grade her in NY we got bombed with the Blizzard of '77 so I stayed the night at a friends hose. The mother didn't know I was there when she was telling the baby sitter, she was 17, not to leave it was dangerous out, she just came home from work. The babysitter left and walked home and she freaked out when II came down with my friends, no way was I leaving. I can't remember the details of the show, but I watched it every week. I had all the Osmond toys, to this day I have the very large Marie doll with her original box. My mother just loved those 2 and bought all the Osmond toys for herself as well, the dolls, outfits etc. She thought those 2 were adorable, looked like twins and she LOVED Donnys teeth and thought Marie was a great compliment and cute! I mean we had EVERYTHING.

Donny, Donny, Donny....wow, what an entertainer, singer and dancer extrordinaire! Always loved all of their specials...fan for life!!!

As a child I was a big fan of the Donny and Marie Show. I lived very close to Pasadena, Ca. where they host the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day. In 1977, my mom and I went to the parade. I saw Donny and Marie on an actual float. My mom tried to explain how television works, and how we are able to see the Donny and Marie Show via a television signal. I suspect most of it went over my five year old head. When she was all done explaining the process of broadcasting, she said, “Now do you understand?” “Yes”, I responded. The float passed by us. “I just have one question…How did Donny and Marie get out of the television, mom?” 😊

Millions tuned in to those programs. I was a teen and my entire family would watch the musical variety programs. Donny and Marie was among the last of that type of variety/music show.

Watching Osmond Family Is a very Big Value ...There Talents of singing Harmony and being a very Warm Family ... I love to watch Osmonds ..I feel The most Peaceful moments with them

Our family always watched Christmas programs like this, so this upload *really* makes me nostalgic. I was 6 years old when this was broadcast. It’s hard to believe it’s been 43 years now. Every October it was the Charlie Brown Halloween Special. In November, it was the Charlie Brown Thanksgiving Special. And every Christmas it was Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, and the Charlie Brown Christmas Special, and Donny & Marie, and whatever else. The late 70’s throughout the 1980’s were very special for those of us growing up at that time. To us, the world seemed peaceful and warm, and our parents were there to absorb any sort of conflict or negativity that might be happening. Variety shows like this would air the week before Christmas, and then Christmas morning we boys would open gifts out in the living room under the tree. Then after breakfast, everyone packed in the car and we drove (literally) over the hills and through the woods to our grandparents’ house where we could expect to be showered with even more gifts, along with gramma’s incredible Christmas dinner spread. It was sure a nice time to be a kid, and uploads like this bring all those warm memories back.
