Merrill !!!!!!! He's not only an extremely talented singer and musician, but he's one of the nicest human beings you'll ever want to meet. I've met him on many occasions, and he was always friendly, kind, warm, happy to stop and talk with fans ... and just an overall wonderful guy! Other family members that my friends and I found to be very, very nice ... every time we saw and met them ... were Alan and Jimmy. It's been way too long; I think the last time I saw any of them in-person was '84 (at Disneyland).
@@CanadianAmerican dan luckily you in what year was that it very nice when famous person take the time to be friendly I have never meet any of the osmonds but. I like some of there music x
@@susanmurdock9055 Hi Susan - The only members of the family I never were Virl and their mother, Olive. O.K., so the first time I saw the Osmonds perform - and met some of them - was in 1978, in Las Vegas. My parents knew I watched the Donny & Marie Show, and since we went to Vegas all the time anyway, we went when they were performing. Saw several shows since performers do a dinner show and a later show. Saw more Vegas shows in '79 and '80, although it was only Donny, Marie and Jimmy who performed those two years, at least in Vegas. I didn't think I'd see any of the brothers since they weren't performing, but Merrill walked into the coffee shop - and my jaw fell to the floor. Ha! Still have that photo I took of him inside the elevator. Since then, my friends and I were at numerous concerts where just the four older brothers - who were now a country act - performed (a few shows in Reno, Nevada ... and numerous shows in California ... up until 1985. Even saw them at Disneyland in 1984. - Growing up in Los Angeles, I've met quite a few celebrities, but I must say that the Osmonds were among the nicest. We always stayed in the same hotels, as well, so meeting them before and / or after the shows was just a regular thing. While they were all pretty nice, I would have to say that Alan, Merrill and Jimmy went above and beyond being nice. They would stop and talk with us, pose for photos and such ... oh, what I wouldn't give to go back in time just to relive even one of those shows. Happiest memories of my childhood for sure.
The Osmonds are talented, decent and respectable as everyone should be. I don't 'get' the mentality of the fans who protested against Donny's marriage though. If you really loved him, you would be pleased that he'd found someone to love. I wish them all well.
I was a second sound engineer at SunWest Recording Studios in Hollywood, in the 1970's I worked with the entire family on The Donny and Marie Show. Everyone of them were so incredibly talented and gracious. We pre recorded all the music and background vocals, the after the show was shot at the network, I worked on the Post production side too. I have to say Donny was my favorite. We are both Ham Radio operators. Great Experience, thanks for the memories, Elza Camacho
Exactly! After 60 years of show business being on the road and having health issues how much longer should they keep on going for? They've done way more than enough more than most people it's time for them to rest and enjoy life.
I’m saddened because I miss seeing them, but I’m really happy for them. They finally get to live their life the way they want it, and boy do they deserve it, and Jay. He looks happier than he’s ever been so for that I am thankful they’re all they want to be , Osmond Brothers 5 Always and Forever 💙🧡🖤💚💜
The day Donny got married and it was shown on tv my sister and I were so happy for him! Those girls' that went crazy were delusional and stupid. Be happy for all of them!
im with you i hate seeing fans thinking these people dont have a life outside there careers as a fan i like seeing them happy i just like seeing them sing at concerts that all
Like so many, I grew up with the Osmonds. It was one of the only reasons I realized my own childhood was so dysfunctional. I thought cruelty was just life as everyone knew it. These siblings and their famous Mormon family were such inspirations. The income earning brothers supported the ones who couldn’t sing because of deafness. I thought that was admirable. They had decent and everlasting marriages. I admired and envied them at the same time.
I was security for Merrill ,Allen , Wayne and Jay when they played The Vapors in Hot Springs Arkansas. We went fishing up on Lake Ouachita , had a great time. Down to earth gentlemen.✝️🙏
I grew up watching Donnie and Marie's show and watching THEM grow up at the same time. I just turned 55 so they're not much older than I am. The Osmonds have always been a favorite of mine. Their vocal harmonies are THE best because they ARE family. Love watching the old shows and specials here on RU-vid from back when the WHOLE family was there: meaning their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Osmond. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I know you did not know this And not to be rude But it is DONNY not Donnie Donny hates when people spell his name wrong so just a friendly puting it out there In case you ever meet him
😢😭🙏❤️💗💕😍 WOW ... their stories ... So touching & inspiring😭😭😭 ... Remember watching D & M show with my siblings ... We were all so very interested ... So glued to it ... So very excited everytime it came on the screen ... So beautiful ... JESUS LOVES ❤️THEM 🙏...Yes they are all very precious to HIM ... Their life stories indeed have brought HOPE to many out there ... 🙏😍❤️ TQ JESUS for loving them ... keeping them strong 💪 ... Keeping them together ... 🙏❤️AMEN
I would love to see one more family Christmas extravaganza from them with kids and grandkids present. I have always loved watching and rewatching their family Christmas specials. They don't all have to sing, just be there to tell us some stories and remind us of the good old days. Boy wouldn't that be a full stage.
Kaye Carlson Oh my goodness I don’t think there’s a stage big enough to hold them all; probably need a stadium! LOL But I would love that too & to have the guys introduce their wives & kids with their spouse then the grandkids could I introduce themselves & say how old they are. Everyone could tell about their favorite family memories from their own family & the ones from when they were growing up too. I would so love that. Hope they see this & do it!!!
@Diane Powers I did see that; I loved it. Since then Jay has divorced & remarried & Tom has divorced but as far as I know has not remarried. Last info I have is that Jay & wife, Karen, are living in England & working on a movie about The Osmonds that tells All with no sugar coating things. He also still performs some with Merrill. Merrill is still going strong performing. Donny has new Album & projects & Marie has projects also. Just hope the rest of the Family are doing well also.
Omg! I would love one more special too! It's the same with the Jackson family! Growing up with these two families has such lovely memories! Plus, they sang some of the same songs! It's the end of an era, in which people actually had talent!
@@dianeoliver9041 Not to be a downer, but I would love to see the movie about the Osmonds families' issues. Back in the day, I remember the family having to "side step" racism within the church and upright deny Marie's divorce until the newspapers forced them to announce it. I know they are not supposed to be political. However, if Dolly Parton can speak through her good works and support the LGBTQA community, then so can the Osmonds! I mean Ms. Dolly has always been like, "I can't say nothin' about my fans because I love them so. Da dunn supported me all my life!" Now, that statement shuts up the haters real quick. I just wish the Osmonds were more forthcoming because young people look to their heros for support. Naturally, I understand the families' need for privacy. However, I wished they had worked more on just being themselves and less on being squeaky clean role models no one could immulate! That said, I do respect them for having principles and sticking with them!
@@fredrika27 They don’t claim to be perfect & admit to having family problems, arguments & the same issues that everyone else has but they do try to live according to their Religious Beliefs. And they have never took drugs or drank alcoholic beverages like most people in music or entertainment industry. They are Not Prejudice & were good friends with Michael Jackson and they accept Gays as a matter of fact Marie has a daughter that is gay, & she is very supportive of her. You said you’d like to see a movie that shows the real side of their life problems, arguments, everything... well Jay has spent the last few years working on something just like that, it does not sugar coat them ( his own words). I think it is coming out as a play like Jersey Boys did. But they are REAL people just like all of us are worts & bumps
They were really popular during 1972 and 1973, when I was age ages 11 and 12. I used to get Tiger Beat and 16 Magazine, the issues were full of pics of the Osmonds and David Cassidy. Wayne and Alan were my faves of those brothers. I always thought it was silly when fans would get upset if their fave celebs wed. I mean, so what? Do they think they will meet and marry their fave celeb? Jimmy was sure young to have had a stroke. The family sure have had some health issues. I used to watch their Christmas specials, Andy Williams was usually a guest.
I watched them when I grew up. They all were amazing singers. Their Deaf brothers were amazing for playing the saxophones. Their mother never gave up for her Deaf sons.she found a way for them. God blessed her heart! Their parents raised all kids so well. I love them all so much!! ❤️🤟🏻❤️🤟🏻😊🤗
I love all the Osmonds !! But my favorite is Donny !! I had his posters all over my walls !! I still have all my albums !! The Osmonds got me through a lot of rough times !! Listening to there music brings me back to my childhood they are my safe zone !! Thank You to all the Osmonds 💖💖 i will always Love them !! 💖💖
I love this Family, they are an inspiration for others especially those in the Entertainment Business. I’ve been a fan since 1970 when One Bad Apple Came out & spent every penny I got my hands on buying their records/albums. Actually met them all after a concert in Memphis when I was 15 & it’s still one of the “highlights” of my life. I still love the Osmonds, I still listen to their music & I’ll always be a Fan. And if I ever get the opportunity to go see Merrill, Jay & David &/or Donny I will excitedly go!!!! I’m so glad Alan, Wayne & Jimmy are doing well & are happy with what they do now. Also glad everyone is happily married with Kids & grandkids as I am as well. I know Marie is happily married & has her kids & grandkids along with a great career. I also know that they have family reunions every so often so this Family is still together, still a loving family even if they can’t & don’t see each other that often. I’ll always love the Osmonds even as we all age all I have to do is hear one of their songs from back in the 70’s & I feel young again.😊♥️💙💜💚💖💕
They never got the accolades they deserved. I can't even find their music on Sirius XM. They were and remain supremely talented, but most importantly, just plain good people. I'm glad I grew up when I did so that I knew them when they were all young, healthy, and dancing fools.
Donny was my first crush! I wore a cap and dungarees like he did back then. I was 13. Hearing the song 'puppy love' etc., takes me back to the best days, before life got in the way. I even wrote Donny a letter. From New Zealand.....go figure. I adored him. Xxxx
Donny Osmond was my favorite. Though I love all of them. I'm the same age as Donny. When I was in school, I had a hard time because of cruelty of other kids. My mom wrote to Donny and he sent me his purple cap and sent me a hand written letter, that I still cherish. Thank you Donny! Their courage over health issues and refusing to give up no matter what, has helped give strength too me too. I have alot of health issues too. It has given me the courage to not give up!! Bless all of you!!🙏🙏🙌❤ Your all an inspiration to me as well as many others. Thank you for being who you all are. And for all the wonderful songs 🎵. God bless all of you!!! Thank you so much!! Many prayers sent you way.
I love them all. my favorite is Donny of course. I have seen many awsome concerts. I remembered a time I took my girls too the Osmond Boys concert when my two daughters were young. The boys sang at the Mall in Mesa Arizona. They were great. Wish y'all the best.
My mum had M.S. she was in a wheelchair for over 50 years. She never let the disease get her down. She always said there were people worse than her. Mum died when she was 83.in1999. I srill.miss her
I was extremely honored to have met Wayne, Merrill, and Jay Osmond in Branson around 2010ish. They were so sweet. The people who were also there were local and said how kind Jay is. Jay apparently goes by and checks on them. I'll never forget that moment.
No its not true the Family have split, still going strong..They are a true example of Kindness and Decency in a Family..Been A Fan since 1971/saw Donny 2017 " A True Professional" Fantastic dancer. Saw Merrill last year @ the Concorde Club UK🇬🇧 back Mar 2021, Lovely guy great Artist, great singer, & David Osmond Alan's Son wonderful creative artist. They are all lovely in their individual ways..Wayne a Beautiful deep voice, great guitarman, & Jay the sensitive one with great choreography and drumming skills..Marie the only Lady.. sweet professional, with great style, and good singer.. FOREVER LOVE YOU ALL.💞
The Osmond Brothers are the most wholesome group ever...God Bless them All....They keep God in their lives...it makes a differences....Kudos to Olive and George Osmond
It was for Marie's 60th "Birthday", NOT "Anniversary". The other mistake was showing the older and younger image of Merrill, but an image of young Jay showed.
Wow this is such a loving remarkable family. Alan’s son, what a handsome positive man. Merrill’s son is also just a strong intelligent man. The Osmands were pitch perfect hard workers. Their family was a respectful loving example of what most people hope for.❤️
I loved the Osmands, my favourite are Donny and Marie...and their song "I'm a little bit country"...and "Puppy Love" still has my heart..♥️♥️♥️love their contribution to music world
Wow nice to know how it all turned out for all of them. They we're all great I'm 61 and sure do remember the great memories thank goodness. And did I ever have a crush on Donnie Osmond. Listening to his and Marie's music was fantastic.
What Merrill Osmond has done with his son is very important for others who have also been through their own problems with their hearing loss. They're all very blessed.
I seem to be one of the few guys on this comment section who loved the Osmonds. These guys oozed so much cool. Damn... I can see why the girls went nuts for them. I mean good lord... Look at the video for "YoYo". Those kids were awesome. So much talent in each one, and their choreographies were outstanding. Such an amazing family and if I had to pick my favorite Osmond it would have to be Wayne. I always felt he didn't get as much camera time as Merrill or Donny but just could see that his infectious grin and enjoyment he always showed on stage made all the others that much better. Yeah, Wayne. That's all I got to say about that.
I listened to Donny Osmond records over and over. While vacationing at the beach with family, I played “Go Away Little Girl” on the diner jukebox…dime after dime….probably a thousand times! I remember shrieking while watching him on the I Love Lucy show…and the best entertaining stage show? Donny in the production “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”!! Years of wonderful memories, a sincere, heartfelt thank you to the entire Osmond family for sharing your talents with us ❤️
What a lovely story! I envy them their love for eachother. I think it is terrific their caring still sharing their lives within the family. What a wonderful opportunity you have all have had, having and trusting each other. You have been so blessed.
I love this story. These people are amazing. I ran into one of them in a doctor's office....what a gentle soul. I love how this family lives their religion ALL. THE. TIME. i am grateful for their examples of enduring all that life throws at them WELL. Thanks for this video.
The Family A Proclamation to the World The First Presidency and Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints We, the First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children. All human beings-male and female-are created in the image of God. Each is a beloved spirit son or daughter of Heavenly Parents, and, as such, each has a divine nature and destiny. Gender is an essential characteristic of individual premortal, mortal, and eternal identity and purpose. In the premortal realm, spirit sons and daughters knew and worshipped God as their Eternal Father and accepted His plan by which His children could obtain a physical body and gain earthly experience to progress toward perfection and ultimately realize their divine destiny as heirs of eternal life. The divine plan of happiness enables family relationships to be perpetuated beyond the grave. Sacred ordinances and covenants available in holy temples make it possible for individuals to return to the presence of God and for families to be united eternally. The first commandment that God gave to Adam and Eve pertained to their potential for parenthood as husband and wife. We declare that God’s commandment for His children to multiply and replenish the earth remains in force. We further declare that God has commanded that the sacred powers of procreation are to be employed only between man and woman, lawfully wedded as husband and wife. We declare the means by which mortal life is created to be divinely appointed. We affirm the sanctity of life and of its importance in God’s eternal plan. Husband and wife have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children. “Children are an heritage of the Lord” (Psalm 127:3). Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, and to teach them to love and serve one another, observe the commandments of God, and be law-abiding citizens wherever they live. Husbands and wives-mothers and fathers-will be held accountable before God for the discharge of these obligations. The family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan. Children are entitled to birth within the bonds of matrimony, and to be reared by a father and a mother who honor marital vows with complete fidelity. Happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ. Successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities. By divine design, fathers are to preside over their families in love and righteousness and are responsible to provide the necessities of life and protection for their families. Mothers are primarily responsible for the nurture of their children. In these sacred responsibilities, fathers and mothers are obligated to help one another as equal partners. Disability, death, or other circumstances may necessitate individual adaptation. Extended families should lend support when needed. We warn that individuals who violate covenants of chastity, who abuse spouse or offspring, or who fail to fulfill family responsibilities will one day stand accountable before God. Further, we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets. We call upon responsible citizens and officers of government everywhere to promote those measures designed to maintain and strengthen the family as the fundamental unit of society. This proclamation was read by President Gordon B. Hinckley as part of his message at the General Relief Society Meeting held September 23, 1995, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
I didn't get angry when Donny got married, I knew I had no chances anyway to get him, so when he got married I was like "now noone can get him anymore, not me and noone else!!!" I felt good about it!
Keeping God in the center of their lives, speaks volumes why they have thrived even through difficult times! Truly amazing how they all have such raw talent and not let it go to their "celebrity heads"! Love this large family that openly shared with us, their love of music!🥰
I was just wondering why was there no mention of their father and mother throughout this whole story I was just curious don't know why they weren't mentioned.
I am so happy that they are able to stand up to adversity, stare it in the face, and fight the fight. If anyone can beat adversity, it's the Osmonds. I did not know about Jay's divorce. That had to be incredibly difficult with his Mormon faith. I was lucky to be a teen in the 70's when their records started to drop. I was so happy to get their first album as a Christmas present the year it came out. It might have cost more than my parents could really afford, but when it came to music, my dad didn't say no very often.
They are my idols during my teenage years, I was so crazy about them that I'll purchase Teen and other Entertainment magazines that featured their stories every time. I'll also cut the newspaper in the entertainment section when Donny & Mary or their brothers were featured, then I'll paste it on my scrapbook because I thought then that's how I can be near them all the time. As I was a runaway boy I imagine them as my brothers & sister to cope with my loneliness, they are at the time were my sense of strength. After that, since I had run away from home and did not have any means to support myself, the hardship had let me forgot about them & go on with my struggle of looking after myself on my own. But till today, every now & then the memories of them & their presence through the entertainment circle had given me strength during my lonely life, I thank God for that. It is sad to know also of how each & every one of them had to face their own struggles but how all of them overcame it was truly inspiring for me. May God bless them all with health and happiness together with their loved ones to eternity. From Singapore with love!
@@dimar7641 Thank you for your prayers, I'm alright now living with my own family and as humans, we will have to face trials, and tribulations throughout our life, it may be a different kind each time but it will also make us strong, resilient and wiser. At this period of time with the pandemic situation, my hope is that we will all be as one fighting this and always ensure to take measures to protect ourselves and our families, may God grant us spiritual strength, a lot of patience, and success in the struggles. So get vaccinated and be safe, love from Singapore!
What an incredible family the Osmonds really are. They have come through their hardships just beautifully. I remember them with fondness and thank them for giving us so much pleasure for decades. I only wish the best for them. God bless them. My only regret is I never got to see them live but am grateful that i was able to hear them.
I also grew up with the Osmond Brothers and lived in Southern California during the 70's. One of my favorite memories was running into all the brothers on Zuma beach. They were dressed in their colorful tuxedos recording for the show. Just me, a boyfriend along with their sound crew. It was a bad weather day and I had all of them to myself. Marie also came to my junior high years ago. I thoroughly enjoyed watching this interesting update The memories will always make me smile. Thank you for sharing!
I have been an osmond fan for 50years.i never gave up on donny when he married Debbie.i love the whole osmond family and I always will.my fave osmond is Wayne.they have given me a lot of happiness.xxx
Wow, this is truly amazing. The Osmonds, they're all legends and I can't wait for the musical based around their lives. This brings back so many memories and like most girls up and down the country I had a poster of Donny on my bedroom wall, happy days 😊😂😊xx
This was wonderful. All the best to a family who has given so much to the people who have so thoroughly enjoyed their gifts and their " humanitarianism ". Thank you , and BRAVO !!!
I love this osmond brothers since i was small. They really have an inspiring stories behind and they never give up on life. Such a wonderful family, strong bond and love.
This family are my teenage years..the memories the feelings all come flooding back..they have had problems and struggles like any other but they have given so much..Thank you for the best years of my life xx
Merrill Osmond could have made his own career. He was the voice which made their most famous songs. His exciting spirit and voice could have made him a career.
Osmonds, the musical? Sure, I've love it. I was too old for their music, however living in Utah, I love the Donnie and Marie show, and the whole family. I remember a woman in my ward was the nurse who helped take care of their mother Olive and she was an amazing person, you have to realize these people had some amazing parents. In Utah its' easy to get taken advantage of because white collar crime can happen, people who are dishonest prey on others by name dropping and so you think you're dealing with an honest individual, turns out people took advantage of them, but they still went on and they endured and that is really a compliment that they were able to go on reinventing themselves.
ALL of them are real Men,,never giving up, Optimistic, taking MARRIAGE seriously and are good examples for Men to follow despite set backs involving health issues.
I think they are all without a doubt, the most gifted family that has ever existed. I thank God that I was able to grow up with their music. I wasn't old enough to travel to Toronto for any concerts they may have had there, but I was later blessed with the opportunity to see Donny perform in Toronto in the musical 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat'. He was outstanding in his role, and the play was pure joy to see. So sad now to hear of all their health issues, and also to find out that their fame did rob them of a normal childhood. God bless the Osmonds.
