This promo is over 40 years old, and I'm scared to get in the ring with them. Dr. D should have did all of the talking and all Dennis had to do is just stand there looking serious.
@Bad News Schultz was not that bad of a wrestler either. I don't know if it was that incident with (John Stossel on 20/20) that derailed his carrier or what? But if he had stayed in pro wrestling longer he probably would have made a big impact on the business.
Jeffrey Coogan It absolutely was the incident with Stossel (that little bitch). The real sad thing is Vince told him to amp it up and not take shit from him because kayfabe still lived and Stassel was doing a whole piece on if wrestling was fake or not. Then he gets fired for doing that very thing! Dr. D could've been Hogans #1 arch enemy. He was that good. (Even though '84-'86 Piper, the greatest character in the history of wrestling, ended up Hogan's # arch enemy and it was awesome, I would have loved to have seen what Schultz could have done in that spot.)
@@notthatfalconcoin538 Indeed. Back then there was a TON of 'sloppy' looking Dudes, but their shape did not tell the whole story. Phil Hickerson had that sloppy fat, but I have no doubt he could cause me a lot of pain. A team I always liked was Buddy Rose and Doug Somers... never went to the gym a day in their lives, by the look of them. But both were very good at their job, and Buddy always impressed with the one-arm pushups.
These Men (and others like them) Were my true Idols when I was growing up.I would ape their personalities "You couldn't whip cream with an outboard motor" is frigging poetry to me.I developed a swagger like theirs.This cultivated persona would even occasionally "take over" to the point I was not aware I was doing it.This is the type of Men that you want your Son(s) to become.Double tough,intense anger/inner Fury,devoid of emotions,just All Business All The Time.These are the people who win,the ones who survive.
me and a bunch of boys 15 to 17 went to a wrestling show in middle tenn.in the mid to late 70s.well after the matches we went out side to smoke and under a big shade tree was a brand new silver trans am. loaded out the ass.super sharp well all us boys were standing around it admiring it when two men start walking up caring gym bags one of them was Dennis coundry.and coundry.opend up the door to the drivers side and gave us all a look as if to say boys don't even think about it and he just stared at us we all skunked off and dissent say a word.but a hour earlier we were all goning to beat his ass when he was in the ring I'm 57 now I'll never forget that
