Loving the videos of the fz50 strip down. As an owner of a fz50 my self as well as a Honda pcx I do have a point to make regarding the short comings of the two speed transmission. It's Achilles heel is that it's coupled to a small capacity two stroke engine. This is fine on level ground but falls apart when hill starting. The two stroke engine has very little torque at low rpm, the point where the primary clutch engages and so power is very limited when it's most needed. A CVT on the other hand allows the engine to achieve its power band and maintain it as speed increases. However my fz50 is by far my favourite bike just for sheer enjoyment of riding small capacity machines.
Hi! I have one of these bikes in my barn. Havent used it for some years. A short while after I bought it used, the exhaustion pipe fell of one day while taking a ride. I put a new one on. But after that itdidnt have enough torx to go up hill and pitch black oil is slowly dripping out the back end of the exhaust pipe and over time the oil tank is slowly drained. Perhaps one day I will take a look at it allthough I dont know anything about engines. But a nice little moped. I enjoyed riding it.
Love your content I'm building a 1979 fz50 but am having trouble getting spark only 385 miles on the clock replaced the coil that's all can you please advise thank you
Sounds like you’re down the wrong path by aiming a “parts cannon” at it… check ALL wiring, grounds, switches, and connections before replacing a single part. Use a multimeter. I cannot explain that process any further, as it’s too involved for this medium.
