Well this is it. We are going back together and we're going to make some noise! Come along with me as I finish this old school engine swap. email: ratzlaffmotorco@gmail.com website: ratzlaffmotorco.com
1965 Popular Hot Rodding magazine did some research and found the rams head exhaust manifold was a big improvement over the log type manifolds like on the 265. A lot of kids in high school did that change as the rams head were plentiful in the salvage yards for cheap. Much later on engine masters proved that if you had to dent headers to clear the steering the HP loss was small on the Dyno. Frieberger beat the snot out of 1 tube.
Question would you consider installing adapting a C5 2000ish transaxle into a similar El Camino with a similar engine setup. The C5 Automatic is a 4 speed. C6 is a 6 speed. Later C7 are 8 speed. Thinking for a hobby cruiser 4 speed with 350 350 sounds great. And that transaxle will help weight transfer and traction. Later I want to add electric front wheel drive for a Hybrid El Camino. With batteries over the rear end and one pedal controller. Seeing some rough El Caminos at a reasonable price. What do you think? Would want to cram Corvette transaxle into that type frame. Then adapt the torque tube to the Vortec 350 350 or 5.3 if that's cheaper and easier, but 5.3 with 350 HP characteristics torque and sound. Dennis
