On Sept. 28, 1981, CBS and NBC switched spots in the Capital Region. Here's how we said "goodbye" to the eye, and "hello" to the peacock!

Little did WNYT know at the time was that when they switched to NBC, NBC would begin its comeback after spending most of the 70s in the ratings basement, and would eventually dominate the ratings in the 80s and 90s.

But the NBC Saturday Morning shows was the opposite.

Indeed...a HUGE blessing in disguise for WNYT. And right along side the network building itself up, WNYT also built its news department up, going from dead last in the ratings to being rated #1 in several dayparts in just a few short years.

In Cincinnati, WCPO (9) and WKRC (12) did a network switcheroo in 1996. 9 went from CBS to ABC, while 12 went from ABC to CBS. I think a switcheroo occurred in Dayton, OH some years ago, but I'm not sure how that went.

So weird to see Bill Lambdin (RIP!) young and with hair! I remember this switch. My parents were confused for a good few weeks post change. Also remember the old WAST call letters. (I would turn 9 in mid September of 1981.)
