In 2010, Darrell Green ran the 40-yard dash in 4.43 seconds. That's impressive when you consider that he was 50 in 2010 and 8 years removed from his final NFL game after 20 seasons in the league.
I always hear how Darrell Green didn't have any Olympic metals...but he raced and beat all of the members of that years team to include: Willlie Gault and Ron Brown, actually the only person that ever came close to him in a 40 race was Phillip Epps of the Green Bay Packers, it was a photo finish, Darrrel Green was the fastest ever!
Kenny Everett you are 100 percent correct. He beat Epps 4.13 to 4.15. closest finish I have ever seen. They did a photo finish. The year was 1983. I watched it on ABC. Epps could really fly.
Scott Davidson You do realize that the competition did not start till 1986. The race you are referring to was a preliminary heat it was a photo finish. But the Photo finish with Ron Brown in 1991 was in the final.
Wow, really?? It's too bad players don't play both offense & defense. That'd be neat to see him playing offense & making a fool of whoever was defending him.
One of those California guys was the roommate of actor Tiny Lister. Deebo from Friday he talked about him and that he lost to future NFL star Darrell Green..Tiny was in the discus
I use to swear Darrell Green was faster than Bob Hayes in both track and football speed, but research and times prove Hayes at the very least had had faster track speed. There’s just no debate on that front. Track speed I think Gault, Greene, and Branch were too equally matched to tell any difference. But Greene probably has fastest game speed ever.
He was always the fastest guy, and it also seemed as though he was always the OLDEST guy in the NFL as well (rare defensive player playing into his 40s).
Anthony Schwartz is another name to look out for. WR for Auburn who had faster numbers than Green. Not sure if he will be drafted in 21 or 22. He is even faster than Tyreek Hill. Look out for this kid.
@@bestsportsgamessimulation-9187 Herschel did best Green in a 100 race but Green ran the 200:prior to that and was gassed, in the 88 comp Green beat Herschel in the 60 meters, 40 yards or 60 meters Green was hard to beat
bboohhmmaann ...no way nearly as fast in his dam 50s.. what the hell you dudes smoking...an these idiot announcers dont even give you his time...what incompetence....
It's funny that you would mention that. Years ago this guy was arrested at some bar in Oakland, CA. The cops just grabbed everyone they could and that included some people who weren't involved in some ruckus. He was one of a the few who didn't try to run away from the cops as they said they were just bystanders. He told the judge that he didn't do anything and there was no way any of the cops who were there that night would have chased him down. Well the judge was open to different ideas to prove someone is innocent or not. The judge had the guy race against the arresting officer and sure enough he just ran away from the cop at the "competition". The guy was a sprinter in high school and he had made it to the finals at the state track meet. Someone can think they're fast like that cop did but real sprinters are on a different playing field. BTW the judge released him.
About 2 minutes in and you'll see Green run down Tony Dorsett and then Eric Dickerson: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eJLB67d75GA.html
They had no coaching lol, their shoes sucked and the track was shit. Green would run 9.95 if he ran in modern shoes on a modern track just with those changes, if he training for it he would be one of the best of all time.
In 1973 or something like that I was in a track meet and the wind was from one particular direction at some unknown speed and I sprinted to the fastest time in the personnel time and dominated my performance against best time I’d ever done on it 🫡
