🇫🇷 Le 18 janvier 1983, Fiat avait frappé un grand coup en dévoilant à la presse sa Uno au Kennedy Space Center tout près du pas de tir. Lancement, conquête… côté symboles, le constructeur italien n’avait pas fait dans la subtilité. Cela dit, avec un investissement total dépassant les 700 millions USD à l’époque (près de 2 milliards USD actuels), le plus important de son histoire, et une cadence prévue de 2 200 unités/jour, il fallait réussir à marquer les esprits. D’autant plus que sa dernière-née ne manquait pas d’ambitions : repartir d’une feuille blanche pour assurer la relève de la glorieuse 127 (voir bit.ly/CDA096) et faire de sa remplaçante une (presque) world car. Launch, conquest... the Italian manufacturer was not very subtle about the symbols. That said, with a total investment of more than 700 million USD at the time (nearly 2 billion USD today), the most important of its lifetime, and a planned production rate of 2,200 units per day, it was necessary to make a splash. All the more so as its latest model did not lack ambitions: start from scratch to succeed the glorious 127 (see bit.ly/CDA096) and make its replacement an (almost) world car. What a challenge!
