I need to come to Ocala to see one of your bikes. I am looking for a middleweight commuter bike to go with my 2009 Bonneville. I don’t think I want an Interstate model but I would like one with the panniers. Great work.
I have a CX500 ready but I don’t have bags for it. I do GL standards once in a while and have bags for them. The next bike up it a 82 GL500 interstate with 9000 miles.
@@MurphymotorsocalaI've got a barn find 1983 GL650 I bought to restore and don't have the time I thought I would. I would love to get this in someone like your hands that would do the right thing with it.
I juat picked up one of these over on the West coast. Looking at the spark plugs it's been running quite rich. I've got the shop manual, but I've never really worked on carbs and I'm having a lot of difficulty understanding how to adjust the carbs to be more lean. Could I email you for some advice/help on this?
It’s unusual for these to run rich. They were pretty lean from the factory. In rack I richen them up when I rebuild them. The air filter may be clogging up or the choke may be sticking in a little. Is it running hot OK? If you’re checking the plugs you need to give it a long highway run to clear them out before you try to read them. Also if it’s been sitting the oil maybe washed out with gas. I’d give it an oil change, new air filter and a new set of NGK plugs. You can email me at Murphymotors@yahoo.com
This one was sold before I even started on it. I have 2 really nice 500 interstates coming up next but I’m getting a shoulder replacement this Friday so it will be a while. You can email me at Murphymotors@yahoo.com if you’re not in a hurry I can put you first up on the next GL650 Interstate or one of the 500’s.
