These things rode and ran so well. They really made so much more sense for hauling families and stuff around than behemoth four-wheel-drive SUVs of today.

We had one. The head gasket failed at 50K and I’d been driving it around all night with the check engine light on. Dad fixed it and traded it immediately.

In fact I just saw a cool looking 1983 Mercury Grand Marquis Colony Park On Cheers On April 1, 1993 in Season 11 episode 21 in the episode title Look Before You Sleep in the cold opening
