Back in the 80s the networks would have Saturday morning preview specials to showcase the upcoming Saturday morning cartoons for the upcoming season. A great way back then to get kids talking and circling times in the TV Guide.
I remember I watched this show back in September 1983 when I was-get this-18! But I didn’t care if other people thought that 18 was too old for cartoons! I loved Alvin and The Chipmunks and I remembered watched them on The Alvin Show way back in the 1960’s so I was delighted to see them returning to television for new adventures! Thanks for posting this wonderful memory!
I'm glad that this turned up on youtube because the night that it was on tv I was out working out.I see it's also got great nostalgia with Fred, Barney,Alvin and the Chipmunks,Gumby,Pokey,Kukla,Fran, and Ollie,Pebbles,Bamm Bamm, etc.and so forth.
This was just an NBC "Saturday Morning Preview". They came up with a different idea for 1984- so there never WAS a "Second Annual Yummy Awards" {"The Most Lickable Awards on Television!", promised the ad in TV GUIDE}......
It also cross-promoted NBC's current stars (a favorite "stunt" of NBC executives Brandon Tartikoff and Warren Littlefield, who learned from the "master"- Fred Silverman).
This is so awesome I can't even begin to explain. I was a little older by now to be watching this stuff and I don't recall seeing it. I can tell you, though, that it epitomizes everything that the 80s were about.
Thank you for posting these Saturday morning preview specials thanks alot i thought i would never see these classic preview specials again i was a little kid when these specials first aired the kids today are brainwashed to miss out on these classic gems.
"open my mouth and gag me with a yummy?" Yikes...lol Who wrote that?! I love the MR.T cartoon. It's amazing how HUGE T was an how people have forgotten that. I live SM and his amazing friends. Great music. If anyone wants to SEE spidey, he's in the last season of family ties where Gus moves into the neighborhood and there's trouble cuz he's black. He plays one of the cops at the end. THAT (dummies') voice was severely missed on tv. So is that bnw dog saying chocolate, the nestle jingle Bailey sings on WKRP? Funny how the quality of this video ruins how pretty justine bateman was. Funny how we were just happy SEEING the live action versions of characters and now twitter would explode is ANY of these people were cast lmao YES Saturday Supercade!!! THANK YOU!!!

From Wheel of Fortune to The $25,000/$100,000 Pyramid, The Newlywed Game to the Academy Awards, American Bandstand to the American Music Awards, Tic Tac Dough to Dance Fever, the late Charlie O'Donnell was one of television's most beloved announcers. Although Charlie O is no longer with us, his memory and his legacy will live on forever...
Tr3! Take it from me! Tr3 is tough! Spray on wax! Still Have the bottle! 😎 Did ricky mess up like so many poor hollywood kids surrounded by pressure and some pervs Still remember that sad show with ricky over a breakup
QBCNetwork For being the 4th largest market in the States,Houston sure pre-empted a lot of network television with alternate programming,it sounds like.American Bandstand & The Price Is Right are 2 other examples that come to mind that I heard about.
John W Landry Price Is Right for 2 years (1980-82), American Bandstand for 25 years, Edge of Night (1976-84). We also didn't have Spinoff, Give N Take, Blockbusters (both editions), Trivia Trap,, All Star Blitz, Double Talk, Match Game 90, Bruce Forsyth's Hot Streak, the list goes on.
QBCNetwork Oh,I thought it was only for 7 years that Houston didn't get the American Bandstand because of some similarly themed local show? There was a couple of those shows we didn't get on our ABC affiliate we then had out of Bangor,Maine(WVII-TV) either.All-Star Blitz,Match Game '90,The Edge Of Night during its final few seasons,& Family Feud during the last 6 months or so of its ABC run.
That was Mr.Larry Harmon..who only appeared as "Bozo"on an unsold tv show pilot and on some tv specials and on promos for"The Bozo World Friendship Club"/"The Care Programs" and he was the voice of the clown..for tv cartoons that were created and produced by Jayark tv animation studios.
The channel Knight Rider Historians just recently uploaded Laugh Busters from 1984-85. The special has Thom Bray from Riptide, Danny Cooksey from Diff’rent Strokes, Alfonso Ribiero from Silver Spoons with James Avery (Uncle Phil) as a henchman and K.I.T.T.

@@DJRitty Damn, that hit deeper than it should have....... Now we have talent-less hacks taking old favorites and turning them into their own shitty fanfics. luckily there are some good cartoons for kids out there still. Gumball is one of them and is now one of my all-time favs. I was 3 (almost 4) when this aired.
