*THIS VEHICLE IS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING CONSIGNED TO A BRING-A-TRAILER AUCTION. ONCE A START AND END DATE HAS BEEN ASSIGNED IT WILL BE UPDATED HERE.*
This one owner 1984 Dodge Daytona Turbo has 5,169 original miles and is one of the best examples known to exist. It’s been pampered its entire life by an obsessive compulsive individual. Tons of original documentation and extras are included. A list of everything included is listed below. The Dodge Daytona is an automobile which was produced by the Chrysler Corporation under the Dodge division from 1984 to 1993.
This car was ordered on June 28th, 1983 from Hallmark Dodge located in Overland Park, KS. It was ordered a Blue Gunmetal Pearl Coat exterior and a Black interior. The optional equipment included a radio-AM/FM stereo w/ cassette, premium speaker system and tilt steering column. The original order guide, hand written notes and dealership order form are included. The car was delivered and inspected by the dealership on September 21, 1983. The original Chrysler Corporation New Vehicle Preparation sheet is included. The car was retailed on September 23rd, 1983. All the original dealership paperwork and owner’s manuals are included. This was the owner’s first new car which he cherished. He removed the large “Turbo” decals that were on the door and added the “Turbo Electronic Fuel Injection” decals that the early prototypes had. He drove it on a couple of short trips and put it away for the winter in 1983 and then drove it only a few times in 1984. He never wanted anyone to damage his first new car so he quit driving it. It was stored on jack stands so the suspension wouldn’t settle and the tires wouldn’t develop flat spots. Since it was being stored he installed a Direct Connection high volume oil pump so it would always have plenty of oil quickly when started. The original oil pan was replaced with a factory chrome one. An extra used oil pan is included as the original one was misplaced. He also installed a new 1-2 synchronizer assembly for smoother shifting. During the time the car was stored he would regularly start it and run in on the jack stands so everything would move. He mainly used it for 20 years as a backdrop to show how his kids were growing.
The exterior of this car is in showroom condition and virtually flawless. It retains all the original factory Blue Gunmetal Pearl Coat paint. The passenger front fender was rejected at the factory and resprayed at the factory per the owner’s request. The factory paint department inspection form is included. The paint looks great and has recently been detailed to a show quality shine. This is a beautiful color in person especially when it’s in the direct sunlight. Everything on the exterior is original to the car including such items as the glass, rubber, emblems, lenses, lights, etc. All of wheels are original to the car with the exception of one which was replaced under warranty when the car was just a few months old. All of the Goodyear Eagle GT P195-60V-R15 tires are original. This exterior is absolutely stunning!
The black interior of this car is also in showroom condition with no signs of wear. The black and white cloth bucket seats are extremely comfortable. They include dual recliners with lumbar and thigh support for the driver. The black and white checkered cloth material is also on the door panels which looks great. This interior was well designed with loaded with factory standard equipment such as power mirrors and onboard message center. All of the gauges and the onboard message center are crystal clear. Everything is in working order including the air conditioning and radio. An extra radio is included for extra parts. This interior is absolutely stunning!
The engine compartment is in beautiful original condition with no signs of oxidation. The engine compartment paint is also in beautiful original condition. It retains all the original factory tags and stickers throughout. The hood insulation is still in great condition and the hood light still works. The car is powered by the original 2.2L Turbocharged Inline 4-cylinder that was rated with 142HP. This engine runs and performs excellent. It’s barely broken in with 5,169 miles. The engine is coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission that shifts beautifully.
The undercarriage is also in beautiful original condition with no signs of wear. The painted floors are as nice as the exterior and painted engine compartment. It retains all the original factory paint marks throughout.

I had a 1985 Chrysler Lazer Turbo XE. That car was just awesome! All digital cluster automatic and it even talked! It was my mini KITT. Black with black leather interior. Just an awesome vehicle!

I had the same car after selling a 280z, and I remember being amazed at how solid and precise everything about it felt. Also, the interior was so quiet. It wasn't very popular at the time, but just look how beautiful it is today. One of the cars I really miss.

I love Daytona Turbos and this is a beautiful example but the black stripe would have turbo and has too much shine which leads me to believe this one has been painted. The Motorweek video test shows how it should look. The Chrome Turbo badge is from a later model Lebanon, New Yorker and Caravan/Voyager turbo from around 87.

The black stripe was removed and this car has not been repainted. Thank you. It includes the black stripe/turbo decals. View it on our website.

I had one very similar to this but silver exterior back in the late 80s. It was my first “fast” car. It was a POS model, but I enjoyed it for a few years before moving on. Some good memories along the way.

Loved my dodge! I was 17 and stupid, didn’t know the clutch needed fluid, thought the tranny was messed, so I scrapped it.

Wow! Nice! I had an 84 as well. Got it from the original owner. But here in Canada it was sold as a Chrysler Daytona. A couple of differences I see is that the sticker above the door handle,, mine had a 'Turbo' sticker instead. And mine didn't have the metal Turbo badge on the fender, nothing was there. And sadly mine was an automatic, not the best choice for the turbo engine. But if you ever wanted to experience turbo lag, that was the way to go lol 18.8 in the quarter mile too. Yup.

I bought one just like this new in 84' except it was silver with a burgundy interior. Had a few quirks but overall it was a great car. I now have a 84' TurboZ I bought from the original owner years back. I know you had it on Ebay a few times but didn't sell. Stunning condition. Wish the original owner hadn't made the few small modes that he did though. I didn't realize you sold it at B/J and got over $20k for it. Didn't think even in the beautiful condition it's in it would fetch that much.

This is one of the most awesome cars Chrysler ever made. I used to own an identical car. and that car can FLY at unreal speeds. something you would not expect from a 2.2-liter engine. even with super turbocharge. I actually reached 162 MPH with this car. and I could have pushed it farther. you got yourself a bargain

You're on glue if you think that 2.2 litre could do any where near that ...I had an 84 turbo , and it topped out at 128
@JadeB628
@JadeB628 2 года назад
@@markschmidt2475 it depends on one factor. if you had auto transmission or 5-speed stick shift. mine was 5 speed. I remember racing with Porcha. or Mustang with a 5-liter engine. and both lost. Don't remember this video. I'm talking about a 1984 Dodge Daytona turbo Z. the reason I remember it is I got pulled over by a state trooper in PA. LOL glue :)

They usually came with a larger turbo sticker at the bottom of the door. Strange how this one did not. It only has the chrome metal TURBO emblem on the side, which is usually what the Chrysler Turbo Laser had. Something seems off?

Nice car! I like those 2.2 turbos. The motor is still over 30yrs old though. I'm not sure it was driven enough to make me feel confident taking it on a long trip... However it's really nice!

The valvetrain dampeners are all fucked up from sitting. I wonder if there was any documentation on whether the head gasket was ever done. Rust creeps from the rear passenger coolant passage across the fire ring and coolant starts to seep in, whether the engine runs or not. What's funny is that Felpro does not denote the difference between their pre-2008 composite fiber 9296PT, and their later MLS 9296PT. You have to look under the AC compressor bracket somehow to see it.

I had an 85 Daytona Turbo. Mine talked. Those cars are very nice, but did not hold their value. Very nice car, but I would be shocked if you got more than $6k.
