If you’re a big Kawasaki fan like I am, you already know how hard it is to find a clean vintage KX 500 bike like this one. In my entire time of racing vintage bikes, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a 1982-1986 KX500 on track. This KX500 was fully restored by a friend of mine, Brian. Brian spent alot of time searching for oem parts and it was well worth it.
Being that my first bike was a 1982 Kawasaki KX 80, I have a soft spot for vintage KX builds of that era. I keep this bike in the collection and do not ride it. I am already racing a 1986 CR 500 in the D1 class which is front disc only for racing 1984-1986 open class.

Hey from Australia.for those of us in the plus 50 age group..not only do these era restorations look great .but they bring back fond memories of eagerly going to watch moto-x in our younger days.Park the KX 500 in your shed and just look at it.Have been a Kawasaki fan and own a 1979 klx 250 and 1984 klr 600.nd love em....Dal

I owned one in 84 brand new, loved it and set up correctly handled very well. Did a few mods to engine which brought it up around 69-70 hp without any problems.

Those are really cool bikes. They should adjust the rules to a free air open class. Even the latest yz490 isn't really any better than any of the "older" open bikes of the other brands. Thanks for sharing man. 👍

@@CharlieFerer I had an early eighties kdx 80 when I was a kid. I don't recall the exact model year but the rear fender was torn off of it by the time I bought it second hand. Other than that they looked like a shrunken version of that 500. The neighborhood rich kids with 86's, cr's and rm's used to make fun of my metal gas tank. That old Kawasaki brings back some memories.

air cooled non power valve bikes do best with a castor bean syn combo between 20;1 to 32;1 depending on rider skill and engine size.

@@LBrawn that’s why a full synthetic or semi synthetic work best for most riders out there. You are right. Castor keeps the air cooled beasts temps down quite a bit
