The Supra wasn't the only car to run a standard engine for Sandown that year. There was a Gemini that ran one too. A friend of mine was talking to the driver and told him it was a safer, more reliable way to do the endurance races. Who would've thought?
Willo had that supra flying....right up until Bathurst when it started to run like shit under he and Tomas Mezera (Willo actually blew the motor at Sandown and still finished 3rd with a road car replacement). He then got it sorted again and was among the fastest on Conrod in practice at Bathurst in 1986 until he lost control and destroyed the car into the wall. Of note, Willo's co-driver at Bathurst 1986 who was to make his debut that race was none other than Mark Skaife.
Bloody stupid centrelock wheel falls off the Fancydick Ovlov. And Gricey did NOT make the start line. Masterton also loses a centre lock. Brock had a broken rocker,, I believe they were still using factory tin rockers at the time.
