1985 BMW k100rs 

Hi There - 13 years late to this comment, but wanted to put out there that I believe this was my bike (95% confidence). I was the second owner and purchased it from a BMW dealer in Arlington MA. The bike had very few miles on it and had languished at the dealer. Things I did to the bike during my ownership that leads me to believe it was mine - I replaced the stock windscreen with the dark version from Europe. I added the spacers for the turn signals to improve airflow. I replaced the very stiff stock shock with a Koni. I added the Euro headlight switch. I added the front and rear fender extenders, put gaiters on the forks, along with the fork brace and steel braided brake lines. I also put tank pads on the sides to make grabbing the tank easier with my knees. I added the rear luggage rack so I could use the stock top case. The wheels were painted black by my local BMW car shop (a very expensive paint job done around 1991). I added bungie cord loops to the saddle bags. I did not add the extra gauges and I had added the stock belly pan after removing the crash bars. The seat was a Corbin but not the one in this video. The BMW roundels had faded and I replaced all three. The right engine side cover was not painted under my ownership. I put about twelve thousand miles on the bike and sold it after I bought a R100GS.

Killed my '85 from absolute neglect. Never had a spline lube in it's 158,000 mile life. Driveline was still working. Actually it never died, but the neighborhood kids made a game of tipping it over so many times, and it stayed out in the weather all the time. Eventually so much needs attention, and it will look like hell, so it's better to just buy another used one, that is if you don't take care of them.

A steal at that price. You can run those things coast to coast forever.
