Welcome back to the KULLYCO RU-vid Channel. Where we do all things fabrication, engineering, and design.
In this video we fully dive into my shop truck project. A 1985 C10 Chevy Silverado, 1500. I show you guys start to finish, the processes and products that went into lowering the truck in the front and rear.
In the front we did a total drop of 5.5". We achieved that by using CPP modular drop spindles, that gave us 2.5" of drop. Then we coupled that with a 3" drop spring to give us a total of 5.5". Along with that we decided to do new calipers, rotors, ball joints, and steering components in the front.
In the rear of the truck we did a total drop of 7". We achieved that using a flip kit with an additional spacer block. The flip kit of course- flips the rear end on top of the leaf springs, then the additional block spaces the rear end up one more inch to get a total of 7". We also installed a c notch kit in the rear, which you will see in the video. We used a bolt in kit, that will allow the rear end to travel another few inches up into the frame rail. Its a must when doing one of these projects- to get that rear end travel back.
Lastly, we finished the project off with a new set of wheels and tires. I went with 20" Matte Gray, Halibrand Sprint wheels all the way around, wrapped in Toyo tires. The front wheels are 20" by 8.5" and the rear wheels are 20" by 10".
I hope you guys enjoyed this video and where able to get value out of it. I know I learned a lot on this project and I am quite happy with the end result! Pretty tough to beat a square body shop truck:)
Thank you for watching the KULLYCO RU-vid channel.

Great looking build. I am going the same route soon. Could you tell my what brand notch you used. Typically i see them with bolt holes on top, and then you have to remove the bed. I like how these are attached and would like to go this direction

Hey! thank you, sir. Good luck with your project. As for the notch brand-- I don't remember specifically. But I bought the kit from Arizona performance trucks. Its a bolt in kit, worked really well.

Looks good! Not too many people add lowering blocks on the back of squarebodies - most will add longer drop shackles. Any pinion angle problems, such as driveline vibration?

What backspacing did you end up going with? Did you have to shorten the axle?
@KULLYCO
@KULLYCO 8 месяцев назад
Stock backspacing on rear . No did not have to shorten axle
@losdog84

Do those rear wheels have the 5.5” backspace? Also, do you think there is enough space in the rear to put a slightly wider 285/40r20 on that same setup?

I cant comment on that with certainty- my apologies!

Thanks buddy! Stock c10 offsets . It worked in the front because the Cpp drop spindles i used pull the track width in about .5”

Yes! I actually moved my inner front fenders up about 3”-4” to get good tire clearance

@@KULLYCO Why wait for it if you knew it was coming? 😏 At this point in the Squarebody craze (like 5-6 years in), we've seen the new parts pile a million times. We've seen the actual lowering of these trucks a million times. But what we haven't seen is good, custom-fabbed answers on how to address front tire clearance after they're slammed. (Well, I have, but I'm always eager for fresh takes on it.) And since fab work appears to be your thing (I'm brand new to your channel), I'm completely baffled as to why you wouldn't have shown it?? But yes, please do a video showing your subs what you did. 👍

You can look into 73-80 inner fenders as well they had more clearance

Yep. I knew about this trick. But I wanted to see how this guy got around it (I'm guessing "panel persuasion") in case I wanted to try that before dropping $120 on a pair of fender wells.@@girfwars9106
