It was this race where the touring car guys really started to take notice that John Bowe wasn't just an open wheel racer (he was the two time reigning Australian Drivers' Champion when this race was held). He was actually very fast and very talented in whatever kind of car he raced (remember, in 1986 he also raced the VESKANDA sports car to the Aussie Sports Car Championship).
John Bowe did a great job in the 'New' Volvo. Before it broke down. Dick Johnson was off the pace in the Mustang at this race. Was nearly lapped by Fury. Just as well he didn't say "Charley what the ^%&* are you doing" lol

What a joke, this self proclaimed John Amundsen has NEVER, I say NEVER been involved with VMS in any way. No one has ever heard about him. Guess this is yet another old profile made by Amundsen himself to not make his lies to obvious. Its sad really...
