Edited commercials etc.. Larry Bird Magic Johnson Kareem and Walton If there is a higher quality video out there, let me know and Ill take this one down. Some videos contain commercials.
Dick Stockton is my favorite sportscaster! He never talked too much, he always had a way of letting the pictures speak for themselves and only interject when it was necessary. A pleasant voice, nice tempo and rhythm, and always to the point. HoF!💖
agree, Dick was the best because he didn't make it all about himself. He let the game, the players, the coaches be the focus, which is how sport broadcasting should be
He was an excellent broadcaster, I remember when he did the Red Sox games for a few years, he was great to listen too and made a slow game more exciting with his knowledge
This was the game that convinced my dad and his friends the Celtics were going all the way. They had already beaten the Lakers in Boston with a monster game from Walton and then they beat LA in LA without McHale. If Twitter existed in 1986, Laker fans would have schmidt their pants🤣
That was as good as any playoff game! 86 Celtics were one of the best teams ever, and the eighties Lakers were always great as well. I'm grateful for you sharing this one for me and all the older fans of the game out there
Many argue the '86 Celtics as one of the greatest teams ever. Independent of that, I definitely believe they were the greatest passing team I've ever seen. Not one guy of the starters or within the rotation was a bad passer. McHale or Parish, seen as the "worst" passers, were still quite effective and not a liability when double-teamed. Bird and Walton were ELITE passers and, arguably the tops ever at their positions in NBA history. Walton, along with Wes Unseld and Kevin Love, was one of the greatest outlet passers ever!
@@josephvitielo1693 I didn't forget because, Cowen's retired in 1983 with the Milwaukee Bucks and wasn't on the '86 Celtics! His last year with Boston was 1980!
Though it would not have changed his number of Titles Bird won, but if he could have gotten 2 vs the Lakers and evened up the professional scoreboard of 2 and 2 vs Magic would have looked just a tiny bit better But like someone said - in the spring of 86 Houston was playing the best ball in the west.
@@Mrd9960Houston didn't deserve to be there, Sampson hit a prayer to win that final game and the Lakers were better than Houston, Laker's/Celtics would have been a much better, more exciting finals
@@Gregory-sm9pf Yes they did, what about all the other games? That was only 1 game, game 5, they lost 4-1, except for that one game, i can see if it was a game 7, if it was a hard fought long series, but they totally outplayed them, from start to finish, they deserved to be there.
@@Mrd9960 ok, after looking at it again, Houston deserved to be there, they did beat LA soundly but imo Lakers were still the better team and I'm sure if you ask people back from that era, they would have preferred a Celtics/Lakers final, I know I did, ☹️
86 Boston was the best but I doubt they ever would have swept LA. The Celtics would of been run off the floor at least 1 or 2 games in LA. Boston probably wins in 6 games.
Hard to say, maybe 4-1, I always wanted them to return the favor to the Lakers, for beating them in 85 at home, it would have been so sweet, winning the title in LA.
@@Mrd9960, I would have liked to watch the 1985 finals with 2-2-1-1-1 format, with the fifth game in Boston after winning the fourth in LA. I think Lakers were better team in 1984 and Celtics were better in 1985, but things are how they are 🤷🏻♂️
@@LarryJoeBest_BCN I know right, the Celtics looked alot better in the 85 season, but for some reason they got outplayed in the finals, it didn't help that Bird injured his hand or shoulder whatever it was, but no excuses, they didn't deserve to win that series, the Celtics I mean, it looked to me, that the Lakers just wanted it alot more than the Celtics and were hungrier, although the Celtics were the better team, record wise, they didn't show it, in the finals, I also think not having Gerald Hendsrson might have hurt alot, he played a key role in the 84 finals and also Cedrick Maxwell pretty much gave up on the team and didn't play like he did, the previous year.
My dad will go to his grave convinced the Lakers tanked it. They didn't. Ralph just played good D on Kareem for the only time in his career, that's all
The Houston series was a matchup fluke. Bill Fitch had watched Kareem destroy a Akeem Olajawon in the low post for 2 seasons. Akeem had no clue how to even get Kareem's attention. He had scored 46 pts 43pts 40pts Going into the WCF Fitch had the luxury of putting Sampson on Jabbar. Ralph played him a little better defensively. The key was Akeem was essentially now a free safety able to reak havoc. Rambis wasn't a threat. McAdoo no longer a Laker. Akeem Olajawon went on to dominate that series. It started with his defense helping on Kareem and Worthy.
@the_Sage71 This. The one year the twin towers were effective with Ralph on Kareem. Ralph wasn't the same in 87 and two Rockets got thrown out of the league
