Lift - 6" Rough Country lift kit (all spring no blocks)

That looks so good and I was glad to see that you listed the sizes of the tires and rims because I want to use the stock rims, they just look great

Previous Diesel Tech here, those cone keepers are a pain if you don’t know how to remove them but this is the absolute easiest way to remove them. Back nuts all the way but leave them on top on stud, take an air punch with a blunt end and air hammer on the top of the stud. The nut is there to protect threads. The vibration works the cone keepers loose in SECONDS. Some semi truck axles use these and I’ve had to remove probably 20 at one time and done them all in about 5mins! Thank me later! 🤘🏼

I've learned that a drop pitman arm or adjustable drag link helps with the 6" lift. At 3:00 you can see the angle the drag link is in. It will wear it out and wear out that upper knuckle ball joint.
@mynameisadriel6752
@mynameisadriel6752 3 года назад
Foofoo Jergins No, that shot is at a bad angle it actually has a raised steering arm and when its sitting on the ground the drag link is only at a slight angle.
@foofoojergins9741
@foofoojergins9741 3 года назад
@@mynameisadriel6752 Thanks for making the video. I made the comment due to my own experience. I saw where u installed the raised arm and with a 4" lift it wouldn't be a problem. A little preventive maintenance with the 6" is the installation of the drop pitman arm. The drag link and ball joint will last longer. Its kind of a pain to replace those knuckle joints.

Looks way better than it did. And for once someone from California is lifting these trucks instead of butchering them and dropping them down to where they practically scrape the ground. It does them no justice and is ugly as shit. This 6 inch lift is perfect for the square bodies and yours looks sweet!

Hoping my BDS kit goes this smoothly, sitting next to the truck, a 78' K20 and a 6" lift kit watching you, trying to get my motivation up right now! Mine is a lot rustier but I had it all apart last year re-doing the front end and replacing spring stirrups and bushings so hopefully that makes this easier for me. I sprung the 2K for mine to get ALL the parts at one time instead of buying them later individually. Did you have to do anything with the drive shaft angle on yours? Mine has a carrier bearing that is making me nervous. It means more angle. How is yours rolling? Thanks for posting the vid.

do you need to drop the transfer case or anything other than new springs, sway bar brackets, and extended brake lines? Looking at buying a 1990 k5 blazer and it will need new springs and tires anyway so why not go with a lift.

I had a 6 inch suspension lift put on my 2001 Chevy and it didn’t stand half as tall as yours. That always bugged me. I dunno what it is about the older trucks but the same size lift stands them up a lot taller 🤷‍♂️

@@mynameisadriel6752 With weight on the truck, don't jack it up, loosen the eye bolts a bit bounce up and down on her a bit, then tighten them up. Sounds silly but I heard about this on a forum and it made some sense, it lets the springs settle and rest where and at the angle they want to be at. Hope it helps you out.🙂

@mynameisadriel6752

No, its not a difficult install. You'll need some basic tools, a good jack, and a couple tall jack stands. I had 35's but I think 37's would have fit without rubbing.

Been thinking about lifting my 87 GMC Jimmy with this same 6" lift. Were there any driveshaft issues? Also..i noticed you sold the truck...did it relate to an issue with the lift? looking for more info....thx
@mynameisadriel6752
@mynameisadriel6752 2 года назад
Yes, the driveline did end up with a vibration so I had a new driveline made with a Double Cardan joint, I believe it cost me under $150 for the rear. The front was also too short to wheel, it fit but with any significant amount of suspension movement i'm sure it would have came apart, so you should plan on replacing the front and rear drive lines. No other issues with the lift or the truck it was solid and felt stable while driving.
