That relay was designed in 1983, and was used on fuel injected mustangs from 86-93 (not the early 86 carbureted 5.0). The white push button inertia switch was used in 86 mustangs only, 87 went to an open red button, and 90 went to an inset red button. But they were all used in different years in other ford vehicles.
Hello, I have a 1985 3.8L v6 mustang did this but I’ve found that despite the key not being in the ignition I’m getting power in that inertia switch and despite bypassing the fuel pump relay the fuel pump doesn’t activate, keep in mind that I already checked fuel pump by connecting it straight to the battery and it turned on.
Just had a short to ground blowing my Fuel pump fuse. I cut the wires from the flip over cut off switch can spell it sorry and bought new relay 8 pack off Amazon new wire inline fuses and a toggle switch works fine now
When I put the key in and turn the Ignition I hear the click coming from the relay and a hum for about 3 seconds from pump then i hear a click from the relay again and the hum goes off , is the fuel pump relay bad or going out?
I have a 1986 Foxbody that will not prime. I’ve replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, starter, relay, reset the inertia switch, battery and still not priming. A couple months back it started up perfect every time, then it would only prime sometimes then it would only prime with jumper cables now it won’t prime at all. Car means a lot to me so any help would be appreciated
You can use any kind of wire just try and match the size you see on the connector. I made one today and just cut off wire from the back of a old car radio I had in the shed.
That relay that you put in the new one was that a four-prong or five prong I have an 88 GT convertible and I replaced my fuel pump relay yesterday I took out the original one that was in the car it was a four prong and the new one is a five prong the guy at the parts place says it shouldn't matter because most of them they sell are five prong for all the '80s Mustangs and I looked everywhere and everyone else sells the five prong and they're not four prong
