Absolutely adore that footage of the 1936 race. It's amazing how those cars can at the same time look goofy and powerful.

The ferry, called Konigen Beatrix, was the vessel where West Ham and Manchester United fans had that infamous battle. The fact that English clubs had been banned from playing in European competitions after the Heysel disaster in May 1985, obviously didn't stop English clubs playing pre season friendlies abroad. They thought that because the games weren't highly publicised, fans of the English clubs wouldn't find out about the games and travel abroad. Great idea.........
