Van looks like the shuttle craft on Star Trek, both on TOS and TNG. Put the right wrap on that Toyota and it would look exactly like those spacecraft from Star Trek.
Awesome van! And yes, very rare! I owned 3 of these ('84 Auto, '86 Auto, '85 Stick) and drove them a total of 280,000 miles in 10 years. I paid a total of $2000 for all 3 and enjoyed many trouble-free miles regardless of the high number of miles on them. ('86 made it to 295,000 and was still running at that point.) Found that the '84 with Automatic was a bit underpowered, as it had to downshift to make steep freeway grades. The other two did not have to. Used them for my job delivering bulk newspapers in the wee hours of the morning during those years. Congrats on the find and purchase! MANY great miles ahead for 'ya! :)
I just found a fixer upper 1988 with windows and an empty back. . . I am so excited I'm bringing it back to life. dont expect to use it as a daily drive or anything but it has 249000 miles on it and still runs . . . its been sitting about 2 years so I get to do all kinds of work on it . . . so excited.
We had one back in the day when I was kids, it ran forever! Was not a cargo van, but had all the bells and whistles. Too bad it rusted out (NY) so bad, we were so poor at the time, my dad used to use old cans and rivet them in where the holes formed. Then the fuel pump went. A real classic. Prob just need a new pump or line for the windshield washer (rear)
Sweet looking Toyota van. I haven't seen these in ages. I drove a similar van to this one year, a Mitsubishi van. Similar shape to the Toyota. It too was a cargo van, with no seats other than the driver's and passenger seat.
Lucky you, 54k and pristene... I've got a 87 Passenger Van (The same, but with a window and rear seats) and I'm making it a camper. But it's rusted to hell but on the bright side... it's got 84k on it.
I survived being t boned by a 1978 Oldsmobile at 65 mph in one of these, mine was a Windows van not one glass broke or cracked I got a concussion because my head hit sideways it knocked the key out of the ignition so no bs. It was still running when help arrived! Looking for another
+Benjamin “Ozias” Esposti it had major damage but the engine wasn't damaged, I was banged up quite a bit but. We took the engine out and installed in one a got just a few weeks ago, they are very good vans, the down side has to be the transmission cooler, And the back door latch
Sadly this gent doesn’t replay to anyone. So much I’d like to know. Going to look up some things like what motor? Guessing 22r ? Maybe a 22re❣️? Good readable ? I love it I think it’s strangely sexy. I’d love to make it a food truck like a mini food truck.
Judging by the carnage to the passenger door.. His "remodel" to the cargo area with carpeting was to hide massive more carnage... That actually was so bad it damaged the outside of the van. Those are dents from the inside. I can't believe Someone paid 6k. Took him a lil over a year though. He probably paid 2k for it.... Flipper :(
I had an 86 5speed LE.. Fairly peppy..comfortable for even long drives.. I paid 400 bucks at 140k (needed a clutch master cylinder which is Unbelievably hard to replace) Every ounce of weight is up front. Can't go up a wet hill in Seattle or reverse up ANY incline.. And mine had a couple pounds of interior.. Empty a cargo would be scarry for traction.
just bought a 89 toyota van ..how many miles per gallon would u say they get?? i'm use to driving a 91 toyota wagon thing gets like 30 miles per gallon that's what i'm use to ..
Do you still own this, I am looking to find one of these vans. I don't know why, but I need to find one of these vans, they are very hard to find. please please let me know.
